The clown is actually me

"They are over there..."

In the distance, a sudden commotion came from the woods.

It was Liu Shiyi's lackeys coming to support us, but they were late and missed my impressive high sidekick.

Da Hei and his men were dead, their bodies left in the forest to feed the wild animals. After the lackeys scavenged their weapons and money, we got back into the car and headed to the KK compound.

No one spoke during the drive.

Each of us was lost in our thoughts, pondering the attack that had just happened.

If the lackeys had been any later, could I have driven away?

The answer was still no.

Abu and Arno kept sneaking glances at me, probably trying to figure out my high sidekick.

The wrench sat silently beside me, staring straight ahead with an unreadable expression. He always sat so upright, no matter the situation, indicating he must have been in the military.

**Screech**

The car stopped at the compound gate.

Abu and Arno were immediately taken away for surgery.

I jumped out of the car and looked at the bustling KK compound, overwhelmed with a sense of sadness.

In the distance, shouts and the sound of whips echoed from the playground.

I suddenly remembered the girls locked in dog cages, wondering if they were still alive.

"You're okay! Did you catch the mastermind?" Liu Shiyi suddenly approached and asked.

"Half of their men were killed, and the rest probably fled. Then Da Hei turned on us and tried to kill him, but he fought back and killed Da Hei," the wrench explained calmly, as if a death was as mundane as a chicken dying.

"Damn, that dead Da Hei tried to cause trouble. It looks like we can't keep those people around anymore..." Liu Shiyi said darkly, swallowing the rest of his words.

The wrench continued, "Supervisor, Abu and Arno were each shot once, but their lives are not in danger. I suspect there's a traitor within the compound. If it were from the casino or another boss, we wouldn't have escaped so quickly."

"Do you have any suspects? This matter is in your hands now! No survivors! Also, round up everyone from Da Hei's village. I will personally interrogate them!" Liu Shiyi's fierce gaze was chilling, radiating a strong killing intent.

"Understood!" the wrench responded, then strode away.

"Little Bottle, you did well today. From now on, you can move freely within the compound. For offshore betting, you can work with either Chen Cheng or Bayi. I trust your abilities. Work hard, and I'll recommend you to the big boss. You'll have a bright future with luxury cars and beautiful women, haha," Liu Shiyi said, patting my shoulder and laughing.

His ambiguous eyes made me unsure if he was speaking sincerely or deceitfully.

"Thank you, Supervisor. I will work hard and not let you down," I said, pretending to be happy and grateful.

"Good. I like capable and obedient young men. Here's ten thousand yuan as a personal reward. I hope you land a big deal tomorrow, haha!" Liu Shiyi handed me a bundle of cash and laughed as he left.

The old fox was trying to lure me with a small benefit.

Dream on.

I counted the cash roughly; it was indeed ten thousand yuan.

"Hey, did you finally break through today?" Chen Weiqiang suddenly appeared, smirking and teasing.

"Out of my way," I glared at him and continued walking.

"Didn't succeed, huh? Haha, still the same cheerful old boy," Chen Weiqiang quickly caught up, pestering me.

I wanted to slap him but had no reason to, so I turned and walked towards the dormitory.

"Ping An! We need to sit down and talk calmly. This situation is getting dangerous!" Chen Weiqiang suddenly turned serious, blocking my path.

His eyes held a deep sadness, as if he had much to say.

I also wanted to know what secrets he was hiding.

In Myawaddy, without joining forces, we had no hope of escaping.

Whatever grudges we had, survival came first; escaping in one piece was the priority.

"Finally willing to talk face-to-face? Come to my dorm at 1 AM tonight," I said coldly, clutching the money and quickly leaving.

I couldn't talk to him too much on the road, or it would attract Liu Shiyi's spies.

Until I figured out why he tricked me into coming to Myanmar, I couldn't face him calmly.

This grudge had been weighing on my heart for a long time. If I didn't resolve it now, I feared I'd lose the chance next month.

"He gave you money?"

As I went upstairs, the wrench appeared with his gun, asking.

"Yeah. I take whatever I get," I replied, smiling and putting my arm around his shoulder as we walked up.

"Bro, who do you think is trying to get me? And..."

"Walls have ears. Let's talk in my dorm," the wrench interrupted, indicating someone was eavesdropping in the corridor.

I immediately shut up and quickly walked to the fifth floor, entering his room.

After locking the door, the wrench lowered his voice, "That pervert Lei Si must have someone backing him, but it's definitely not someone from our department. Probably from the neighboring compound... The interests involved are complex; I haven't figured it out yet. As for who wanted you dead today, I'm sure it was Liu Shiyi."

"What?" I was completely stunned.

After all this, it was Liu Shiyi, the old pervert?

"Not just the incident with Professor Ace, but also the fact that you injured several guards when you first arrived, which humiliated Liu Shiyi. But since we need talent right now, he couldn't kill you openly, so he secretly incited Da Hei to deal with you. It was a test to see if you had really submitted. If you had been killed while escaping through the casino or forest, Ace wouldn't blame him. You killing Da Hei was a bonus, removing an internal threat. It's a perfect double play," the wrench explained calmly.

Damn, what was this?

Had I been part of their act all along?

I was the fool in this game!

"Bro, did you join them in fooling me?" I asked angrily, feeling betrayed.

"Calm down and listen. I only just found out," the wrench smiled, pulling me to sit down.

It turned out he had picked up Arno's phone after he dropped it and saw a message from Liu Shiyi asking if the matter was resolved and instructing them to retreat quickly because the security team was about to clear the area.
