Can we still turn back?

When Wrench carried me into the infirmary, we found Bayi lying on a bamboo chair, groaning with an IV drip in his left hand. Chen Weiqiang was beside him, applying herbal oil and massaging a bruised area on his abdomen.

"Qiang...zi!" I couldn't hold back my tears upon seeing them. It felt so good to be alive.

"Ping'an..." Chen Weiqiang stopped what he was doing and turned to look at me with teary eyes.

"Brother!" Bayi tried to sit up but his body wouldn't allow it. He grimaced and lay back down.

"It's okay now. We're all together again." Wrench struggled to place me on a reclining chair, then bent over, panting heavily.

"I'll go buy some medicine and food for you," Chen Weiqiang said, holding back his tears as he rushed to find a doctor.

In Myanmar, bamboo is everywhere, so many hospitals and hotels use bamboo beds and chairs. Imported mattresses are too expensive for most people to afford or even want to afford.

"Brother, I thought you were dead. It's so good that you're alive," Bayi cried excitedly when he saw me covered in blood.

"You're going to give me a heart attack," I closed my eyes, too tired to joke around, my mind replaying the scenes of killing Datou and Meng Ge.

The wheel of fate keeps turning, always returning to its original position. What will tomorrow bring for me?

After laying me down, Wrench also reclined on a nearby bamboo chair, his face covered in sweat. He was injured too, relying solely on his determination and loyalty to carry me here.

In the basement, to prevent others from hurting me, he endured the pain while hitting me. I knew it hurt him more than it hurt me. No matter what, I will always remember his kindness.

Soon, Chen Weiqiang returned with a doctor and nurses. In this place, having money makes everything easier.

With some cash on hand, we quickly received attentive and thorough medical treatment. After our wounds were dressed, the three of us were moved to a shared hospital room.

The three-person room was well-equipped with hot water, air conditioning, and a TV. Surprisingly, it even had a channel from Hunan.

After receiving nutrient fluids and anti-inflammatory medication, I felt slightly better, able to speak a few words and move my arms a little. However, my fingers were swollen like sausages, wrapped in gauze that bled if moved.

"I remember once during training in the mountains, I accidentally hit a thorny tree with a Tai Chi palm strike. My master was so angry he had my senior brothers cut down the tree. Later, I found out the tree had no thorns; it was the thorny vines around it. Since then, I've always weighed the pros and cons, fearing to hurt the innocent. But today, I killed two unarmed people. Despite everything... To survive, I've turned into a killer. My master would be heartbroken."

I buried my head in the blanket and cried bitterly. Datou and Meng Ge deserved to die, but Liu Shiyi deserved it even more. I knew that to survive, I would continue down this path of killing, perhaps never able to turn back.

Even if I returned to my country, I would face relentless judgment and bring sorrow to my family. This is exactly what Liu Shiyi wanted—to break me, make me desperate, abandon the idea of returning home, and willingly become his lackey.

"Don't let it weigh on your mind. This is a survival-of-the-fittest world. If you don't kill them, they'll kill you tomorrow. That's the fate of us piglets!" Wrench sighed weakly from his bed.

Bayi, not knowing what had happened, watched us quietly, feeling sad.

"Stop crying and get well. I don't want to bring your ashes back home," Chen Weiqiang sat next to me, holding a bowl of fish porridge. He blew on it to cool it down.

"Qiangzi, I don't want to eat. Do you think we can still go back?" I looked into his red eyes and asked word by word.

"Yes! To survive, we're not wrong! The wrong ones are the perpetrators! Believe me, we can go back!" Chen Weiqiang met my gaze firmly.

Wrench suddenly laughed, "A prodigal son returning is worth more than gold! Brother!"

Bayi was completely confused.

"I want to eat!" I held back my tears, speaking firmly.

"That's right, eat up so you have the strength to live on! Survive, and you can take revenge!" Chen Weiqiang smiled, helping me sit up and carefully feeding me the porridge.

I drank the porridge in big gulps, ignoring the pain in my throat. I knew I had to eat, I had to live! I couldn't starve to death here or let Liu Shiyi torture me to death.

My external wounds would heal in a few days, but the pulled toenails might never grow back.

"Don't worry, you'll recover. Right now, the priority is to heal your internal injuries," Chen Weiqiang comforted me continuously.

I knew his toenails never grew back after I saw the large missing pieces, and it broke my heart. As long as I could avoid bacterial infection, I was thankful.

The doctor said my arm had a tendon injury that needed rest, and my chest had some fluid buildup, but otherwise, I was okay. With the imported medicine and nutrients, I was assured of a good recovery.

I knew it was all thanks to Chen Weiqiang. He had some money and had recently helped the doctor fix his personal computer, even helping him win some money through gambling. That's why we received special care.

Bayi's internal injuries healed quickly since most of the external force was blocked by me. Being young, he recovered quickly with some imported medication.

Wrench's condition was slightly better than mine. After taking some blood circulation and bruising medicine, he could take care of himself.

The only relief was that our injuries were not severe. With external application, internal medication, IV drips, and some rest, we could get back on our feet in a few days.

A week later, I returned to the dormitory. During my hospital stay, Liu Shiyi gave me an extra week to start working again since my fingers were too swollen to type.

"Ping'an, in a month, it will be Mid-Autumn Festival. Do you think you can make it?" Chen Weiqiang asked worriedly, sitting on my bed, smoking.

"I don't know." I lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, unsure of my chances.

His question implied he had another plan.

"Ping'an's injuries will affect his performance. It takes a hundred days to heal from bone injuries, and it's only been a few days," Wrench looked at me with the same worried expression as Chen Weiqiang.

The last bit of defiance.
