Around 9 a.m., the relatives who came to pay their New Year's greetings finally arrived.
"Oh dear, the car broke down halfway, and we were delayed for quite a while!" Aunt Second's voice echoed for miles as soon as she appeared.
"You guys still drove here? We just walked bit by bit along the road," came Aunt Third's voice.
"My son came back from R City yesterday," she added. "The gas alone cost nearly 800 yuan! It's ridiculously expensive. That's why we left early and decided to walk today—we didn't dare drive."
"So expensive?" Second Aunt exclaimed in shock. "What's going on with the New Year this year?"
Just then, the sound of a child whining could be heard.
"Grandma, my phone's dead! I still want to play my game!"
"Oh right! The power went out in the middle of the night," Third Aunt said as she patted her grandson's head. "We'll charge it once we get to your little aunt's house in a bit."
