An unknown throws Kimberly off the ground but she’s not one to give up. A snarl leaves her lips and she goes after Lily again. She is suspended in the air and thrown far across the hallway.
Her minions scream, scatter and fled in fear. Hannah stares at Lily like she can’t believe her eyes.
Lily’s eyes is glowing purple and she has an evil smile as she slams Kimberly into the walls over and over. The walls begin to break away.
“Lily stop.” Hannah says in fear.
Lily’s smile widens more when Kimberly loses consciousness.
“LILY!!!” Hannah screams finally getting her attention. Her eyes fades from purple to the hazel she knows and if fond of.
“What have I done?” Lily whispers to herself as she stares at Kimberly’s unconscious body.
Hannah ran towards her and hugs her tightly.
“I was so scared. How were you able to do that? Your eyes suddenly turned purple and you were smiling at-” She says without catching her breath before breaking into a sob.
Lily pulls back staring into Hannah’s teary eyes. She sighs.
“Hannah… I’m a witch.”
There was a heartbeat of silence.
“You’re a what?” Hannah says incredulously.
“I’m a witch. That’s how I was able to do that.”
“Witches are real?” Hannah eyes widened in disbelief.
Lily looked around in case anyone was listening before nodding.
“That’s why your eyes glowed purple?”
Lily nodded then looked at Kimberly who was unconscious on the ground.
“What are we going to do about her?” Hannah asks poking her with her foot.
Lily sighed.
After taking Kimberly to infirmary, Lily answered the questions that Hannah threw at her.
“Being a witch is not safe in our world, that’s what my mother said. We are hunted for our blood. I don’t know why but our blood is very powerful according to her.” Lily states staring of into a distance.
“Is that why you didn’t tell anyone.”
Lily nodded.
“I don’t believe that my mum left me and my dad. I believe she was hunted down. She loved us too much to just get up and leave.” Lily says. This was the first time she was voicing out these thoughts. It gave her a sense of relief.
“But you are a half witch. Will your blood be more powerful or less powerful?” Hannah asked
Lily shrugged, she didn’t want to find out. Ever.
“I’m glad you trusted me enough to tell me this. I’m honoured.” Hannah hugged her. Lily was happy that she could finally tell someone about her troubles. The two friends embraced each other as they watched sun set.
Lily saw a chocolate cake on the kitchen cabinet with happy birthday written on it when she arrived home. Tears stung her eyes. She took a slice and dug in.
Mr Rivers caught his daughter eating the cake and groaned.
“it was meant to be a surprise.” He said filling up a glass of milk for her.
“well you snooze you lose.” Lily said even though her eyes were brimming with love. She washed down the cake with the glass of milk feeling completely sated.
The doorbell rang breaking her thoughts. Mr Rivers went to get it.
“Dear, there’s some here for you.” He said.
Lily frown suspecting who it could be.
Jackson stood outside the door. Lily stared at him. The memory of their kiss flooding her mind, a blush covered her cheeks.
“Can I come in?” he asked.
“No!” Lily said quickly. She didn’t want to stay in an enclosed space with him. At least outside she would be able to breath away from his scent.
“dad we will be outside.” She yelled as she stepped outside.
“Okay!” he yelled back.
Once she closed the door they stared at each other in silence.
“do you hate me that much.” Jackson said breaking the silence. Lily’s eyes widened. She couldn’t believe that he thought that she hated him.
“I don’t. I don’t hate you Jackson.” Lily said testing his name on her lips. His green eyes were so dark it appeared black. Their scents entwined. He swallowed.
“Why won’t you let me in then?” He asked peering into her eyes. It made her overwhelmed she could feel her feet hovering she willed herself to stop.
“Because…” lily couldn’t continue.
“Because what?” Jackson prompted her to continue.
“I can’t think. Because I can’t think around you. There I’ve said it.” Lily blurted out her face was probably as red as a ripe tomato at the moment.
Jackson broke into a smile, his pearly white shining. His eyes twinkled. He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer.
“I can’t think around you too.” He whispered into her ear causing a shiver to run through her bones. Her heart ponded in her ears, she could hear his heart pounding too.
“You don’t get it. I can’t control my…self.” Lily held herself from saying her powers. She didn’t want Jackson to know yet. She didn’t want him to think that she was a freak.
Jackson leaned down and covered her lips with his. His moaned almost immediately against him and felt boneless. He backed her up to the door, his lips never leaving hers. They could feel the mating bond strengthening. Their scent mixed together to form one unique scent.
“You smell like roses.” He muttered against her lips.
“You smell like the forest.” she muttered against his lips.
He pulled her closer as he ravaged her lips. The sounds of their moans filling the quiet forest. Lily pulled back staring into his eyes.
“Let’s take it slow.” She said with a smile.
It was ironic because they have been friends for years.
“I missed three years of your life. Let’s catch up.” Lily continued, Jackson nodded running his fingers through her hair.
“No one can know that we’re mates.”
“Why not?” Jackson frowned.
“I don’t really like the attention.” Lily explained. Jackson didn’t stop frowning so Lily hugged him.
“I don’t like your conditions, but for you anything.” Jackson says gruffly claiming her lips again.
They are so caught up with each other’s presence they don’t notice a shadowy figure watching them.
