Fang Hui's lackeys and the servant girl blinked in confusion, still frozen in fear, minds scrambling to make sense of the sudden change. Moments ago, their young master had been a storm of rage. Now, he laughed as if the heavens had granted him immortality.

Fang Hui folded the letter carefully and tucked it into his inner robe with reverence, like a sacred artifact.

Then his laughter stopped abruptly. "Out," he said, his voice cutting clean through the tension.

No one moved. No one dared as they were in trance. His gaze snapped toward them sharp, burning, and impatient. "I said out!"

The shout shattered the silence, and instantly, everyone bowed hastily, nearly tripping over one another as they scrambled out of the hall. They were most grateful to escape whatever madness was still brewing within.

The young servant girl had turned to leave as well, but just as she reached the threshold, a voice stopped her in her tracks. "Not you."
