Getting ready

As the sun began its slow descent, painting the sky in shades of pink and gold, I found myself standing in front of the mirror, Carmen behind me with her arms wrapped securely around my waist.

Her chin rested lightly on my shoulder, and our reflection in the glass looked... right. Like we belonged together in this exact moment.

"You look stunning already," Carmen murmured, her lips brushing against my ear. Her voice, low and warm, sent a shiver down my spine. "Do we even need to bother getting ready? I could keep you here all night."

I laughed softly, leaning back into her. "As tempting as that sounds, your grandfather might not appreciate us skipping his celebration. Besides, you have to show off your sharp suit. I can't wait to see you in it."

Her smile pressed against my neck, her hands squeezing my waist. "Fine. But only because it's for Grandpa. Otherwise, I'd keep you to myself."
