Chapter 0 - Prologue

Sitting at the base of a tree, a young man with white hair looked around at everyone as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

In the distance, energetic conversations could be heard, indicating a departure from everyday life toward a bright new beginning.

This was because they were at the prestigious [Arcanus Academy]. For now, it's not necessary to go into too much detail.

In short, Arcanus is a superhuman training academy that gathers and trains talents from all corners of the world, regardless of their origin.

The mere fact of being admitted to this prestigious academy was proof that you were a person of talent and a bright future.

Unless, of course, you bought your way into the academy, as some nobles do, who discriminate against the commoners entering this academy.

Despite this, the academy is not lenient with those who cannot improve themselves and increase their strength, so those who cannot keep up are expelled.

Many who entered by paying bribes end up escaping with their tails between their legs, unable to endure how tough the academy can get.

Maintaining his expression of disbelief due to his situation, the young man stood up and took a look at the imposing academy in front of him.

Thinking this was all a dream, he pinched his arm. Feeling the pain confirmed that everything he saw was his new reality, causing his expression to change to one of complete concern.

"So, this is real..."

Putting his hands on his head, the young man began to hyperventilate, having a small panic attack as he didn't know what to do in such an unreal situation.

In an attempt to calm down, the young man decided to carefully analyze the situation he found himself in.

At this moment, he was at [Arcanus Academy], one of the best video games he had ever gotten his hands on. He had dedicated thousands of hours to it since he got it because of how immersive it was.

But that's what it was—a video game. He didn't understand how he now found himself inside the video game to which he had dedicated so much time.

For any fan of [Arcanus Academy], this would be a dream come true, being close to the characters that had brought them so much joy.

He would be just as happy if, out of all the characters he could have possessed, he hadn't ended up in the body of Rurik Valtor, a worthless noble who is the game's tutorial enemy that the protagonist must defeat several times until he falls into complete disgrace and dies in agony.

"Why couldn't I possess the protagonist or a more important villain?!"

Frustrated, the young man banged his head against the tree he was leaning on as he watched the other students pass by, giving him death glares.

The young man gritted his teeth and scratched his head, gathering all his energy to get up from the tree that had heard all his woes.

"Alright, it's no use feeling sorry for myself."

Fed up with whining about how things had turned out so pathetically, Rurik decided to take a step forward and survive in this world with the conditions he had been given.

"Okay, this situation isn't ideal, but I'll figure it out."

Now with a positive attitude, Rurik decided to gather his things and carefully plan his next moves to avoid his impending death flag.

Determined to change his fate, Rurik would take advantage of all the free time he had left to figure out his strategy to survive in this chaotic world full of monsters that could tear him apart with a single scratch.

"Alright, if I remember correctly, Rurik was a decent swordsman, so let's try that."

Excited, Rurik wielded one of the fallen branches and attempted to make a few cuts until he realized something he had been ignoring.

"Of course, I don't have any memories of the guy I'm possessing. Obviously, I don't know how to use a sword."

Unlike the protagonists of the Web Novels he read when not playing, Rurik didn't possess any memories of the body he was now in.

Faced with this reality, Rurik's optimism dwindled a bit, but he decided to set it aside and try to find a positive side.

"Okay, let's calm down. I can learn swordsmanship. Let's check the stats."

In front of him, a very familiar blue screen appeared.

"Alright, it worked."

[Name: Rurik Valtor]

"0 defense..."

Seeing his stats, all optimism left Rurik's body, and he sat back down at the base of the tree that was already waiting for him.

"I'm going to die here."
