37. An Annoying Pest and A Seer

When he felt the girl's arms go around his neck, Zion couldn't help but growl as his body immediately tensed up. He didn't even spare the girl a glance as he warned her, '"If you don't remove your hands from me right now, don't blame me for what happens."'

The girl pulled back with a gasp, her eyes wide. Just when Zion thought she was going to be wise, she immediately laughed and hugged him again, "You spoke to me! Yay! I knew you could! You're coming back with me!"

Zion immediately snapped and let out a bark as he bit at her hair, catching a chunk in his mouth as he roughly pulled with his head, causing her head to get jerked back from his pull, "Owie! Stop it!" She let out a shriek of pain.

Hearing both the bark and shriek, everyone had turned to look at Zion and Calie.

Sarah's eyes widened as she ran over, followed by Ithil, Aala and the two teachers, Ivan and the other, who turned out to be Eric.

"Young girl, get your pet to release her immediately!" Eric shouted at Sarah after learning from Calie that Sarah was Zions' owner.

"Zion would only bite if she annoyed him first! He's not just a random beast!" Sarah defended him immediately, not even backing down to a teacher.

"If you do not command that beast to release her, you'll be punished!" Eric ignored her words.

Zion snarled as he released Calie, then immediately moved in front of Sarah, snarling towards Eric, who had stepped uncomfortably close to her, '"You better back off because my bite is worse than my bark. If I wanted to hurt the brat, I wouldn't have bitten her hair."'

Eric's eyes widened slightly as Zion spoke to him, but he was distracted as Calie grabbed onto him, sobbing, "U-Uncle Eric... the fox hurt my head. I want the girl punished and the fox to be given to me as compensation!"

Aala scowled at the girl from under her hood. She had never revealed her face to anyone except her circle of friends, "You tried to buy Zion off Sarah yesterday afternoon, but it didn't work, so now you resort to trying to get him by, demanding him as compensation? That's totally... totally..." She struggled to find the right word. She was so frustrated, so Ithil spoke up, "A poopy head move." He spoke softly, but everyone nearby could still hear him.

Calie glared at them, "This has nothing to do with you two peasants! Go away!" She snapped.

Eric looked at Sarah, "Young girl, you must apologise to Calie immediately for the harm done by your pet and then, as compensation for the trauma she has suffered, you are to transfer your pet to her willingly."

Sarah was about to speak when her teacher beat her to it. "Hang on a moment. I don't believe that little Miss Veilstone should be forced to transfer her pet to someone else. While an apology wouldn't be too much, that also depends on whether the pet attacked for no reason." Ivan stepped forward, looking at Eric with his arms crossed.

Eric gave Ivan an annoyed glare then looked at Calie, "Calie, what happened dear?" He asked gently.

Calie sniffled as she put on her most miserable appearance, "I-I just came over to pat the fox, thinking it was pretty when it suddenly bit my hair and pulled. It really hurt."

Eric glared at Sarah and Zion, "Well there we have it. It attacked for no real reason."

Ivan frowned deeply at Eric, "Mr Dream. I do believe we need to hear both sides of what happened." He grumbled at him.

Eric scoffed, "It's just a beast. While I admit, it's a surprisingly smart beast, it is still just a beast. And no one witnessed what exactly happened."

'"I am a witness to what happened to myself. This girl, when I finished training and had turned to head back to Sarah, suddenly grabbed around my neck. I warned her to release me and when she didn't, I gave her hair a light pull to make her release me. I controlled my strength on purpose so she wouldn't be hurt."' Zion transferred his words to both Eric and Ivan. It cost a little extra Mana to do so.

Ivan looked back at Eric who had a dark look on his face, "We now have the two stories. There is, in fact, an easy way to find out the truth." He pulled out a commutator crystal and spoke into it, "This is Ivan Uthron. Requesting a seer to the first year level 6 training grounds."

Eric's eyes narrowed into almost completely slits, "Why did you summon the schools seer? This is a waste of their time." He scoffed.

Ivan glanced at Eric, "The seer is the best way to determine what exactly happened. They can show the events that led up to now." He didn't say anymore and simply waited.

Soon enough, a tall figure wearing a red veil walked over to them and did a small bow, "Seer Darmunda, at your service." Her voice was soft and seemed to echo on its own, causing people to be enthralled just by her words alone.

Ivan returned the bow, "Thank you for coming. We have a small dispute here we would like to resolve." He then explained everything to the seer who listened silently.

Once he finished she gave a nod and seemed to go still as she lowered her head. No one made a single sound as they all watched her. She suddenly threw her hands up and the air above her rippled and shifted before a strange mist formed from no where. The mist then condensed into a solid form and people could see what had happened. They saw Calie suddenly throw her arms around his neck and after a growl and her sudden words about taking him, he pulled her hair. After that the image faded away and the seer faced them, bowing lightly, "I have revealed the truth. Good day." She didn't linger and left without another word.

Zion watched her leave, his mind filled with curiosity as she walked away.
