MD-Chapter 284 The Mysterious File

The document began with the most basic details. However, the name at the top wasn't "Instructor"—it was Arthur Chen!

The file chronicled everything: from Arthur Chen's birth, his military career, his association with Colonel Phillips, and his activities on the battlefield.

To Arthur, it felt like someone had pieced together two different lives into one coherent narrative.

Starting with his first successful decapitation strike on the battlefield, Arthur noticed that the document meticulously detailed his combat patterns, analyzing and hypothesizing his growth trajectory.

The first section concluded with the incident on the Valkyrie's wing, where he and the "Red-Faced Monster" were presumed dead— alongside Steve Rogers.

However, the next section picked up during the Battle of New York with the Hulk and the "Abomination."

Interestingly, this part of the document noted that the data had only been acquired a year after the event occurred, with the specific reasons left unclear.

One highlighted note stood out:

"The current Instructor possesses a unique ability: short-distance teleportation."

Arthur let out a quiet sigh. "So, the most terrifying thing in this world is someone who pays attention to every detail."

He continued reading. While he originally thought it unnecessary to review his own file, the more he read, the more peculiar it seemed.

Initially, it was merely a record of his life. But as the timeline progressed, the tone shifted— it felt as if he were being studied, dissected even.

This wasn't far from the truth. With more data collected on Arthur, the researchers behind this file had gained a deeper understanding of him.

Still, there was a glaring gap: the period when Arthur had ventured into space, effectively vanishing from the world's radar. When he returned, however, he had fallen squarely into SHIELD's sights.

One entry caught his attention:

"Reliable sources indicate that the Instructor and Fury reached some form of agreement. Specific details remain unknown."

Arthur's fingers, which had been tapping lightly on the desk, paused. He glanced again at the file's title before continuing.

"Multiple sources confirm that the Instructor's existence poses a potential hidden threat. First termination order issued by the organization!"

The report detailed the attempt:

"Termination failed. Using a Barrett sniper rifle at a range of 1,200 meters, the target caught the bullet bare-handed. The target has reached an extraordinary level of ability, growth method is unclear… Super Soldier Serum cannot be ruled out."

In smaller text beneath the entry was a note:

"[Details on Super Soldier Serum can be found in File No. 14.]"

Arthur's expression grew serious as he read on.

The second termination attempt was outlined next, with the deployment of the organization's ace, the Winter Soldier.

Another small note followed:

"[Details on the Winter Soldier program can be found in File No. 26.]"

Arthur already knew the outcome of this attempt better than anyone. The report stated:

"…Mission failed. All operatives were killed. Any evidence of their involvement was erased. The Winter Soldier's body was not found on the battlefield— suspected to have been taken by the Instructor."

After this event, the file described a third termination plan, as well as an attempted operation targeting Lily.

However, the details of the latter were scant, merely noting that it ended in failure. For more specifics, it referenced File No. 1325.

Before the third termination could be executed, the Battle of New York occurred. The organization entered a state of silence.

Then came the rise of the Avengers, and the "Instructor" became a focal point of their attention.

They discovered the Instructor has black wings. Super Soldier Serum has been temporarily ruled out as the source, shifting suspicion to the possibility that the Instructor possesses a unique method of enhancement.

Additionally, it's been noted that the Instructor has deep ties to Asgard.

This led to a hypothesis, which was clearly documented: they suspect that the Instructor might not be of Earthly origin but rather a descendant from Asgard who ended up on Earth.

However, this remains only a theory, as the document explicitly states it should not be treated as fact.

At the end of the document, a bold red-font directive stood out:

"Initiate the Final Capture Plan!"

"Due to the Instructor's unique nature and potential danger, the approach is to shift from assassination to capture. Furthermore, there is reason to suspect that this individual is linked to the disappearance of the 'Replacement' operation leader."

"If capture fails, terminate on the spot!"

"If termination fails, secure a DNA sample!"

"Supplement personnel files and related combat plans..."

The document detailed three distinct capture strategies, analyzed from Arthur's known abilities and behavior. Each plan was tailored to different scenarios, such as time and location, for operatives to reference and required an action report within a week.

Further down, there were references to the "Replacement" plan and the associated leader's dossier, both listed under File No. 245 and File No. 313, respectively.

However, Arthur couldn't locate these files on the computer.

After searching briefly, he returned to the initial document and checked its timestamp—it had been sent just the previous day.

"In other words, Rumlow probably didn't see this document?"

With that thought, Arthur immediately used his wristband to scan and download the file.

The process wasn't entirely smooth; the file had an auto-destruction protocol embedded. After Arthur's wristband bypassed it, the text was fully recorded.

As soon as the download was completed, the file vanished entirely from the computer. Despite his efforts, Arthur couldn't recover it.

Leaning back in his chair, Arthur muttered, "So, they want to… capture me?"

The document's content left Arthur slightly surprised, mainly because Hydra had shifted its focus from assassination to capture.

From the details, Hydra knew his current living location but hadn't discovered the existence of his new base.

They were aware of his friendship with Spider-Man but seemed clueless about his connection with Harry.

However, what truly piqued Arthur's interest wasn't Hydra's plans or their changing attitude—it was the references to other files:

"File No. 14, File No. 26... Where are these files stored?"

Suddenly, his expression shifted. "Camp Lehigh?"

New Jersey's Camp Lehigh, with its underground supercomputer—could that be the repository of these files?

"If I were them, would I put all the eggs in one basket?"

With that thought, he shut down the computer, stood up, and walked out of the office.

Along the way, several people greeted him or cracked jokes, and he casually responded in character.

Once outside and sure there were no surveillance cameras, Arthur used the communication system on his wristband to dial Harry's number.
