"Without much small talk, Arthur pulled out a device roughly the size of a flashlight. He pointed it at the ground, creating a glowing platform, and gestured for everyone to step onto it."
Though skeptical, one by one, the group disappeared into the teleportation circle.
Arthur, Harry, and Parker were the last to step onto it. Just before leaving, Arthur gave Harry a puzzled look. "Why are you coming along?"
"To broaden my horizons," Harry replied casually.
Before Arthur could respond, the three vanished from the teleportation circle. Moments later, the device itself disappeared as well.
When the light show faded and their eyes adjusted, Harry took in the strange surroundings, utterly stunned. "We... actually made it here?"
"Where did you think I sent them?" Arthur rolled his eyes.
The elderly professor in the group, unfazed by the teleportation, was already closely examining one of the ancient computer terminals.
As expected of a seasoned professor, he remained calm even when faced with something as extraordinary as a teleportation circle.
"How's it looking? Can you analyze it?" Arthur asked. "I need the data stored in there."
"This is a relic of an older era," The professor remarked, glancing at Arthur. "I can't give you any guarantees, as I don't know what kind of software this machine is running. But regardless, breaking into it is just a matter of time."
"Seven days," Arthur replied firmly. "We've only got about seven days."
"Seven days?" The professor frowned and said, "In that case, I'll do my best."
Arthur nodded, though unease crept into his mind.
It didn't matter whose name was on the deed for this place; as soon as someone showed interest in it, Hydra was bound to notice.
Their tentacles reached everywhere. It was precisely for this reason that Arthur had decided on an approach that combined a visible distraction with covert action. On the surface, they were negotiating to buy the site, while in secret, they were already working on extracting and analyzing the data.
The goal was to retrieve the information as quickly as possible.
The professor's uncertain response made Arthur uneasy. If they couldn't crack these machines within seven days, what would happen then?
"Should I bring Tony into this?" Arthur wondered. "Maybe Hydra will make that decision for me."
Arthur left Harry to manage the mission and pulled Parker aside for a private conversation.
The two climbed to the surface, where Parker immediately launched into questions. "What is this place? When did you find it? What's in those computers that you need so badly? And how are you going to handle confidentiality with so many people involved?"
Arthur sighed. Parker was a walking question factory.
"Confidentiality won't be an issue if you're keeping watch," Arthur replied. "And you'd better prepare yourself— you won't be able to go home for the next seven days."
"Even if Aunt May forgives me, Gwen's going to kill me!" Parker exclaimed, wide-eyed.
"This is incredibly important," Arthur said seriously. "Though the world seems peaceful lately, I've actually been fighting against a colossal, insidious force."
"What kind of force?" Parker asked, his curiosity piqued.
Arthur explained the concept and history of Hydra, as well as their infiltration of SHIELD.
By the end, Parker was utterly dumbfounded. "So... you're saying an official organization got parasitized by an evil one?"
"That is very well summarized," Arthur said. "Using your analogy, I'd say I'm the attending physician, and this organization is my patient. Right now, I need to trace the malignancy of this evil organization and surgically remove the diseased parts entirely."
Parker stayed silent for a moment before finally speaking, "But if the incision is too large, the organization itself might die in the process."
Arthur thought about it, then nodded. "I also understand that. In any case, I will depend on you for the next few days. For the next seven days, no one can leave this place. Every piece of data extracted must remain under your direct supervision. Harry has likely already had them sign confidentiality agreements, but it's crucial they adhere to them. One slip could lead to catastrophic consequences."
Hearing Arthur's explanation, Parker fully grasped just how pervasive and dangerous Hydra was.
What they were doing now was even riskier and more crucial.
To put it metaphorically, if Hydra was a massive dragon, then what they were doing was sneaking into its lair to steal dragon eggs while the beast was away.
No amount of caution would be excessive.
This realization made Parker nervous. "You know, the biggest crisis I've ever dealt with before this was Dr. Connors trying to turn everyone in New York into lizards..."
"That was no small feat," Arthur replied. But as he spoke, his expression shifted, his brows furrowing slightly. "They're here."
Parker also sensed something was wrong. "Danger!"
"You stay here. I'll handle this," Arthur said. "I'll leave everything here to you."
"I'll help you!" Parker quickly offered.
Arthur gave him a glance. "I'll likely kill all of them."
"Good luck!" Parker backed down instantly.
As a youngster with a strong moral compass and a life philosophy centered on justice, Parker couldn't bring himself to kill, even knowing Arthur had justifiable reasons.
Arthur chuckled. Activating his Wings of the Raven God, he soared into the sky.
Suspended high above, he spotted a convoy heading toward their location.
After a moment's contemplation, Arthur transformed his appearance into Star-Lord's face. Simultaneously, The Eye of Horus darted out to scout the convoy, gathering all the necessary intel. Soon, Arthur hovered directly above them.
"Three trucks, five fully loaded SUVs— each person in the convoy is branded with Hydra tattoos and armed heavily enough to wage a small war."
Arthur smirked as he looked down. "Hydra's arrogance remains as insufferable as ever."
As he finished speaking, Arthur retracted his Wings of the Raven God and dropped straight down.
Mid-fall, he murmured to himself, "This is what I'd call a 'descending kick from the heavens.'"
With a thunderous crash, he landed squarely on the lead truck's cab. The immense force crushed the cab instantly, while the trailer flipped forward, hurtling toward him.
"Go back!"
Arthur leaped into the air, his sheer mass and power enabling him to kick the oncoming trailer backward. The trailer smashed into the truck behind it, causing the second truck to swerve violently before toppling over from the impact.
