This is no longer just a mere "Magic" trick using doodles to deceive people; it's a full-fledged, powerful hypnosis technique, and furthermore, it's of the domain-type variety.
Using the sky as a canvas and the mind as the brush.
This hypnotic ability is something even Liam finds astonishing.
However, this is the ability of someone like Miss Goldenweek, many years later. The current Marianne clearly doesn't possess such mastery...
But as for possessing a hypnotic ability with a similar domain-like nature…
Liam actually knows of one.
As he gently petted Marianne, the image of a skeleton with an afro flashed across his mind.
Brook.
The musician, Brook.
In the "two years later" timeline, Brook developed an incredible skill: he could hypnotize others through the sound of his music... In the Fish-Man Island arc, he played a violin piece, instantly subduing a large group of Fish-Man pirates, rendering them incapable of fighting. This hypnotic effect bears a striking resemblance to Marianne's "Air Doodle・Dreams Come True."
Or rather, Brook and Marianne share similar methods and traits in their hypnosis.
One is a musician, and the other is a painter.
Both excel in a specific craft and use that skill to perform hypnosis.
If Liam's suspicions are correct, Brook, like Marianne, also hypnotized himself through his music, boosting his own hypnotic power, which then fed back into his music, creating a cycle that exponentially enhanced the hypnotic effect.
However, it seems that achieving such effects requires the hypnotist to immerse themselves in their craft, whether through music or painting.
"Do you like painting?" Liam asked, looking down at Marianne.
Marianne nodded, her large, innocent eyes filled with confusion. "If I didn't like it, why would I paint?"
Liam nodded thoughtfully. The conclusion was clear, Marianne was a rare blend of talent, both as a painter and a hypnotist.
And unlike Brook, Marianne had been born with both talents, able to wield a brush in one hand and weave her own fantasies in the other.
Brook, on the other hand, only gained his ability to hypnotize through music after the "two years later" time skip.
In other words, after spending decades honing his craft, Brook achieved the state of "skill approaching the Dao," fully integrating his emotions and spirit into his music, thus unlocking the hypnotic power.
Naturally, it's also possible that Brook's ability to hypnotize came from the Yomi Yomi no Mi (Revive-Revive Fruit), which he may have combined with his music to produce the hypnotic effect.
"Can you see it?" Liam asked, glancing at B.I.B.
Marianne nodded, still confused. "What's that black robot doing there? Isn't it normal?"
If Liam hadn't understood her unique hypnotic talent, he might have thought the little girl was a natural-born user of Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki).
According to Liam's own theory, hypnosis as a power is similar to the role of Haoshoku (Conqueror's Haki) in the Haki system.
Hypnosis ability is like the "Haoshoku" of Life Return.
In Liam's understanding, Life Return, in a broad sense, is the degree to which one's mental will can control their body.
It can manifest in the superhuman physical prowess of martial arts masters, regardless of whether they know of Life Return.
It can also allow one to bend and twist their body at will, even controlling their hair as if it were alive. To achieve this, one must grasp the essence of Life Return.
This is why techniques like Tekkai, Rankyaku, Geppo, and Soru exist within Rokushiki, as well as the concept of "Life Return."
Hypnosis, however, is the ability to impose one's mental will upon others, "hijacking" their mind and dictating their body.
Marianne's ability to perceive B.I.B., much like the green Den Den Mushi, is due to their unique connection with Life Return.
However, Marianne is different from Little Green, the special life form; she's simply born with a type of Haoshoku hypnosis, making her mentally extraordinary. But her body is still that of an ordinary human child, meaning she can't physically touch B.I.B. Before, when she hung onto B.I.B.'s arm, it was only because B.I.B. allowed her to.
Naturally, this doesn't mean that all hypnotists can see B.I.B.
After all, not every hypnotist is like Marianne.
Laffitte, another hypnotist from the past, couldn't see B.I.B. either. Now that Liam thinks about it, Laffitte's vague perception of B.I.B.'s killing intent seems a bit more understandable.
"Giorno, I'm hungry," Marianne said, patting her little belly with longing eyes.
Liam tapped the sleeping Little Green on the coffee table. It yawned, its left eye snapping open, transforming into a glowing portal leading to the City Fortress. Light poured through, revealing the brightly lit interior of the fortress.
"Go on in, there's food inside," Liam called out toward the left-eye portal of Little Green. "Jolyne, get her something to eat."
From the portal, a miniature version of a flower petal appeared, forming a small white arm that stood up and gave an "OK" gesture.
Marianne leaned forward in curiosity, her big eyes fixated on the tiny arm that had sprouted from the "ground." She reached out to touch it, and in an instant, with a soft "BIU" sound, she disappeared, reappearing on Liam's lap as she entered the City Fortress.
…
Grand Line,
They had arrived at the neighboring main island,
After crossing the strait by boat, they quickly docked at the port. Upon their arrival, the fourth prince and his entourage disembarked, while the guards split off, carrying large wooden crates to the Marine branch stationed on the island.
A team of guards lugging such hefty crates drew the attention of passersby, who eyed them with curiosity, wondering what could be inside.
"Bang!"
The guards set the crates down at the Marine base, exhaling in relief as they placed them on the ground.
Creak,
When they lifted the wooden lids, they were met with a shocking sight: piles of pirate corpses packed inside the large boxes. The Marines froze, realizing that the guards of the Kingdom had transported these gruesome remains all the way here, a feat in itself.
After a quick inspection by the soldiers, the identities of the pirate corpses were confirmed: they belonged to the Sword Pirate Crew!
"Their captain has a bounty of six hundred fifty million...!"
"Did they just... die like this?"
"By these guards of the Buru Joia Kingdom?"
"Could it be that their prince did this? But that's impossible... even the strongest of the fourth princes, Cavendish, is only eleven years old. Even if he's a sword technique genius, this wouldn't be possible..."
"This basically means they wiped out the entire Sword Pirate Crew! What kind of prince could do that?"
The Marine soldiers were in a heated discussion, their voices rising. The officer in charge of bounty matters cleared his throat, silencing the chatter, and cast a sharp look at the guard commander.
The guard commander remained unfazed and spoke in a deep voice, "These pirates weren't defeated by us. They were killed by someone named... Giorno."
The Marine officer, stunned, stared blankly.
The other Marines, who hadn't been paying attention, suddenly turned to look as the senior official seemed shaken by the name "Giorno."
"Who did you say?!"
