Death

Storm saw the fear flash across Mirianda's face at her statement. And even though it lasted for only a second, she had been able to catch it. Damn. She felt so good.

It was plain great that Miranda still remembered what she was capable of if pushed to the wall. It was good that her step sister remembered what she had done to Manuel.

Miranda's face returned to its original scowling form, and she hissed angrily thereafter.

Putting up a brave front.

Storm held back a snort.

"Don't keep me waiting Miranda. What is the matter? Why did you disturb my sleep?" She asked, hanging on to her last thread of patience.

"Well, there are two reasons. Firstly.." Miranda paused, stared at Storm deeply, then took two steps back.

Storm piqued her right eyebrow, hoping that whatever reason Miranda had for stepping away from her in fear didn't include touching the cookies Kaden had purchased for her the previous day.

Storm had kept those in the refrigerator. She had claimed ownership of it last night too, making sure that the announcement had been loud.

If Miranda was here to tell her that she had taken it, then her stepsister was going to be in for her fist this morning.

"Yes…get on with it. I don't plan on spending the whole day staring at you." Storm bit out, a smile slithering across her lips when she saw Miranda's face darken in anger.

Yes, that's more like it. She thought.

"Stay away from our new neighbour. He is mine." Miranda blurted out, heaving in and out, as if she had just exposed a dreadful secret.

Storm looked at her for a while, expecting her to say it was some joke or something. But Miranda remained stoic, and Storm knew that the dimwit was damn serious. And then she bursted out in laughter.

"Are you being serious now...sister?'' Storm queried, drawling the 'sister', knowing that it would infuriate Miranda the more. She was right.

Miranda gritted her teeth and stepped closer to Storm, anger over riding her fear.

"I mean it, Storm. Stay away from him. Don't be a slut." She growled, folding her arms across her chest, probably striving to maintain her cool and keep her hands to herself.

Storm knew that it was a tactic her stepsister had started using when the latter had discovered that apart from being the perpetrator of her brother's biggest scar, she also returned slaps after of course dodging her assailant's.

"And if I don't? What will you do?" Storm asked, tasting Miranda's already bubbling waters. She didn't know how her stepsister had gotten the news that she had been with Kaden yesterday, but it really didn't matter to her. If anything, she was going to get closer to the stranger.

But what about Curtis?

"But what about Curtis, your perfect boyfriend, my leftover…'' Storm voiced her thoughts, laughing softly when Miranda's eyes widened and shut in fury.

Oh, the girl was really angry now. It gave Storm a joy unexplainable.

"Cmon sister, don't tell me you guys are already broken up…'' She mentioned, teasing Miranda.

Storm thought of poking Miranda's shoulder with a finger, but at the last moment, decided to let it go. She was still curious about her stepsister's second reason for disturbing her sleep.

"We will soon be. And don't go telling him that. Not that he will listen to you though." Mirianda said.

Storm shrugged.

It was none of her business what they did to each other. She was over Curtis already, totally over him. It was probably why she hadn't even troubled Miranda when she had found that the latter had been dating the gecko.

"Sure, no problem. I got your back." Storm teased, showing her full set of teeth which only irked Miranda further.

"So, the second reason, what could that be? And this time around, it better be good, not some lame shit like the first one."

"Trust me, sister. It is." Miranda mentioned with a smirk, causing Storm to furrow my eyebrows.

The only thing that would make Mirianda smile at her would be something that was not beneficial to her at all. Trouble was looming.

"Okay, let's have it then.'' She said, pretending nonchalancy, even though her mind was already going in different directions on what the reason might be. At the end, nothing turned up. She didn't really have much to herself in this god forsaken family.

"Why don't you guess?" Mirianda asked, smiling so widely that Storm became very unsettled.

What was this that was giving her stepsister so much joy?

Did her father sell her off to some mafia clan? Storm thought, cocking her head to the side, whilst watching her step sister beam from ear to ear.

"I don't have time for that, Miranda. So, are you going to come out with it or are you going to leave my doorpost so that I would go back to sleep?'' Storm asked, folding her arms across her chest.

"Oh, don't bother, sister. You won't be sleeping anytime soon once you hear of this news." Mirianda mentioned, causing Storm to glare dangerously at her. It didn't stop her still from smiling. It just pushed her to talk the situation out.

"Your father is dead." Miranda blurted out like she was talking about the weather, the smile never departing from her lips.

Storm knew that her father wasn't Miranda's favourite person, but her old man had disregarded her for their sake, so why couldn't this slut show some respect for him?

But dead? How could he be? She had seen him last night talking with Jess when she had come home last night. So, how could he be dead?

"Miranda…I see that you are spoiling and eagerly yearning for a slap from me. Don't joke around with my father like that." Storm stated, letting her hands clench in anger.

"Joking? You think I am joking? Why don't you go downstairs and check it yourself." Mirianda hissed, before walking away from Storm's door post, the smile never wavering from her lips.
