Divert

Several more days later, she passed without seeing any of the men. It was as if they had all disappeared or deliberately avoided me, making my plan increasingly unachievable. Thankfully, Tanya was heading up today and staying for the weekend. I've been anxiously awaiting her arrival. Unfortunately, the ride can be unpredictable in winter.

"What brings you out here at this time? It's about to snow," Reign commented.

"Ahh!" I yelped, spilling the Sauvignon Blanc all over my thin red slip dress.

"Sorry!" he said, removing a long black coat and wrapping it around me, "I didn't mean to startle you."

"It's alright," I giggled, drinking more from the bottle.

"Woah," he cautioned, gently easing it from my drunken grasp. "Are you okay?"

"Why wouldn't I be?" I slurred, "Your grandfather is an asshole, your great uncle is garbage, and your father... You're father..."

"My father?" he asked while sipping some of the wine.

"Is the only decent one," I finished.

 "What about Eric?" Reign questioned.

"Until he learns how to apologize, he can go fuck himself," I jarred.

Reign looked concerned. He swooped me into his arms like a princess and walked back towards the house without pause.

"I wanted to stay out here with the grapes," I laughed.

"My grandfather would never forgive me if he knew I let you sit out here dressed like this when it's about to start snowing," he reasoned.

 "Fine!" I huffed.

He carried me in his arms up to my room without needing a break or to catch his breath.

"Wait, how did you know where my new room was?" I asked.

"My father and I moved the things you wanted from your old room to this one, remember?" he reminded me while setting me on the bed.

I snatched the bottle from his grasp and took another swig, "How come you are who you are?"

"What do you mean?" he asked while grabbing a flack robe from my closet and handing it to me.

"Your Dad is who he is, but I understand Zeus raised you," I gathered, "You seem nothing like him. You're respectful, kind, and compassionate enough."

"How would you know these things about me?" he asked.

I dropped my gaze, and our eyes met, "Did you conveniently forget about us fucking?"

His face turned a bright shade of red as his head dropped, averting my gaze. How shy was he?

"I didn't have much of a choice," he reminded, his gaze remaining at his feet.

"I'm not saying it to make you feel bad," I sighed.

I stood up and removed his coat, followed by my soaked red slip, tossing it at him. His eyes locked onto my back body when he realized what was in his arms. Purposefully, I slowly slid his coat back on.

"I like this. It's warm," I hummed while running my fingers through my hair, "Thanks for lending it to me."

A loud bang erupted from the wall as we saw my floor-to-wall windows burst open, sending the curtains flying back from the bellowing wind. Snow began rushing in as Reign ran over hastily, slamming them shut before locking them together. I wrapped his coat around me tightly while rushing over to him. His hair was dripping, his grey shirt soaked.

"How much is it snowing?" I gasped.

I heard his teeth chattering. Instinctually, I grabbed his arms and pulled him over to the fireplace. I dropped to my knees as close as possible to the flames while bringing him with me. His skin felt like wet ice; he was cold yet trying to hide it.

"Take this off," I demanded while helping him strip off his soaked shirt.

I removed his coat and wrapped it around his trembling body. Then, vigorously rubbing his arms, I helped him warm up. His cold hands seized my wrists as his gaze locked onto mine. The color was barely back on his face, but he began to remove his coat.

"What are you doing?" I asked while trying to pull it back on.

"You're naked, Ivy," he stated while looking at my breasts.

I forgot I wasn't wearing anything beneath his coat. He was too cold for me to care, and I was burning up from the fire.

"I-I'll grab the robe," I stammered, "I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."

As I stood to leave, his cold hand pulled me back down by my left wrist onto his damp lap. My body wrapped around his as he deeply kissed me. It was as if he was sucking the air from my lungs, making it impossible to breathe. His coat fell from his shoulders as I wrapped my arms around his neck. An arm wrapped around my waist as he gently placed me on the ground. I felt him grow harder and harder in between my legs when he abruptly retreated. My eyes opened in shock as he was pushed back on his knees, moving away from me.

"I can't," he shook his head, "I can't. My father's in love with you."

"So is your grandfather," I blurted, covering my mouth.

Reign looked down at me the same way Dimitri had before. He cleared his throat and took a deep breath.

"Believe me, I want to; if I had met you first, you'd be mine, and only mine," he said, "I don't know if I'll be able to control myself every time, but I can right now."

When he turned to leave, I ran after him, seizing him this time and pulling him back into my embrace. I seized his neck and pulled him down to kiss me. His attempt to evade only caused us to fall back onto my bed. I wrapped my legs around his waist and dug my nails into his back.

 Knock, Knock, Knock.

Our kiss broke as we became statues.

 Knock Knock Knock

"Ivy? Ivy? It's Zeus," the person stated.

"Go into the bathroom and turn on the shower," I commanded, pushing Reign back upright.

 "What?" he questioned.

I swatted him upside his head, "Do as I said and go!"

Reign scrambled to the bathroom as I wrapped the robe around me before opening the door.

 "What's up?" I sighed.

"Tanya is at the airport, but the snow is coming down hard. They may have to stay at the hotel there until it eases up," Zeus commented. His eyes examined me.

 "Is she okay?" I asked.

"Yes, why are you wearing a robe?" he asked.

"I'm about to take a shower. I was outside when the snow started to fall, and I wanted to warm up," I lied.

"Okay," he conceded. I'll let you know when the driver says they are on the road."

"Thanks," I mumbled before closing the door.

I pressed my back against it while hearing his boots on the ground walk away. When I was in the clear, I opened the bathroom door to see Reign sitting there in the steam-soaked room.

"My friend is stuck at the airport," I sighed, "She can't make it here just yet."

He nodded before brushing past me and disappearing out of my room.
