Chapter 3 MY ROOM

“Ever heard the saying, “Respect begets respect?” I answered, rolling my eyes. I made my way to the other room and looked at my surroundings.

The room was exactly the same as Uno’s room but this one had silken pine walls. I like it.

There was a king size bed in the centre and I walked over to it, running my fingers over the soft fabric of the comforter.

“Are you even listening to me Ashy?” Lily asked yelling and I winced at her voice once again, pulling the phone a bit away from my ear. I then realized that she just called me Ashy.

“I swear to God, if you call me Ashy again, I will---“ she cut me off with her annoying laughter that made my blood boil hot, literally hot.

And my mind travelled back when I was 15. I didn’t realize that a tear slipped from my eye and harshly wiped it away when I heard Lily still laughing on the phone. It took everything in me not to throw my precious phone on the wall.

“Shut the fuck up!” I screamed. “Why are you calling me anyways? Have you not put me through enough?” I seethed. I had warned her before leaving Lexington not to ever call me.

“No, I’m not done with you yet.” Her answer was short and crisp.

“Don’t you have to suck Craig’s dick?” I reminded her, sarcastically. “Or Lance’s bigger one?” and I laughed harder. Craig Richardson was her present husband and a creep I might add, ugly as shit.

“You are getting on my nerves, Ashy.” She sweetly beamed and I cringed.

I squeezed my eyes and lips shut to stop myself from cursing at her as she continued talking.

“Anyways, Craig and I are coming to visit you on Sunday. See yah!”

“What the fucking hell? No! Don’t you dare---“ the phone beeped which told me that she hung up.

“Ahhhh bitch!” I screamed, covering my face with my hands as I fell onto the bed.

Mom never loved me, and I will never ever forgive her for everything she did to me.

Every time I see a girl and her mother, I always feel jealous. They get a home, a loving atmosphere, a caring parent and everything.

For me, if you have a loving mother, you could do anything, could conquer any hurdle, guess I’m weak when it comes to that. Before I knew it, a single tear rolled down my cheeks. I laughed at my pathetic self and shook my head.

I walked into the bathroom and at that moment, I could not even pay any attention to my surroundings. I bent over the glass sink and washed my face with the cold water. I stared at myself in the mirror. Did I do something to make her hate me so much?

I shook away the thoughts, not wasting my time to think about her because no matter how much I think about it, nothing will change. She still hates me for whatever reason.

Suddenly, the bell rang and I quickly wiped my face with a clean face towel. That must be Uno. But why does he have to ring the bell? Didn’t he bring his own keys?

When I opened the main door, I was greeted with two teenagers. “Here is your stuff.” The boy wearing a black shirt with a Nirvana printed on front said, giving me a huge smile.

I smiled back and gave them way and gestured to enter inside the flat.

“Wow! I thought you were a model from a magazine. What’s your name?” The other boy with long blonde hair threw in and I cringed.

“Just keep it all there.” I instructed them, pointing to an area on the floor.

“What’s your name?” the blondie repeated, folding his arms, leaning the side of his puny bicep against the wooden frame of the door. His eyes shamelessly scaled me and my nose screwed up in disgust.

“Has anyone told you that you look like a woman’s pinky finger?” I questioned and his sly smirk slipping straight off his lips and crashing to the ground like a nuclear bomb. It was the most harmonious music to my ears.

He opened the door, arms falling slack to his side and scoffed. He turned to leave but I could hear his slight mutter. “Fucking bitch.”

“Bye beautiful, see you around.” the one who greeted me when I opened the door yelled as he exited following his friend.

“Thanks,” I shouted, watching him wrap his arm around his friend’s shoulder as they disappeared from my sight. I chuckled and locked the door behind me.

I pulled my heavy suitcase inside my room and started to unpack all my stuff.

After 2 hours of unpacking, I felt exhausted. I stretched my limbs and walked to the bathroom after taking a satisfactory glance at my newly designed room.

Stripping down and twisted the faucets, I allowed the water to rain down on me. The water soothed my aching muscles and it calmed me down, drowning all the other noises around me.

I pressed my hands to my face as I shivered under the stream. Sucking in a sharp breath, I cleansed myself. My thickly lustrous dark brown hair was now drenched, sticking unto my body. I grabbed a towel, wrapped it around my body and headed for my room.

After drying myself off, I pulled on black lace panties and a similar bra, then pulled on an oversized shirt that reached my midthigh.

I grabbed my favorite book of Anne Frank and walked out, settling myself on the couch.

I looked at the time and it was nearing seven in the evening. Did Uno just fucking die somewhere? Ugh, I hope not. I’m excited to meet him. Judging by what Mr. Smith had told me, he seems to be a nice guy. I guess I might like him.
