Chapter 26 FAKE LOVER

CHLOE's POV

‘‘Easton, you can't possibly expect me to lie to your mother in any way...’’ I gave a little shake of the head and then flung the paper down on the table. ‘‘She’s your mother, so she’s aware whether you’re telling the truth or not…’’

Easton went silent, and the deep expression that emerged on his face indicated to me that he, too, was considering the matter.

‘‘Okay…’’ he nodded. ‘‘Let's just tell her that we're dating for real…okay?’’

‘‘No!’’ I raised a protest. ‘‘Easton, I must respectfully disagree with you. You mentioned to me that she’s not interacting with Rosie, which leads me to believe that she doesn’t like your wife.’’

‘‘Yeah, you’re right…’’ he said. ‘‘And correction, ex-wife…’’

‘‘You haven't divorced her yet, have you?’’

‘‘But we’re not living together anymore!’’

‘‘But you’re still married!’’

‘‘Fine!’’ He gave a defeated shrug, waved his hand, and groaned as he leaned back against the back of his seat. ‘‘I’m not going to win with you, right?’’
