Chapter 97 MISTRUST

CHLOE's POV

I focused my attention on the screen of my phone while making a concerted effort to stifle the flutter of excitement that ran down my spine as soon as I saw Easton's name appear on the screen. ‘‘I miss you, baby…’’

I couldn't help but grin as I typed ‘‘I miss you too, Easton…’’ and then slipped my phone back into my bag after finishing my message.

It was Friday, and Easton had called me earlier in the day to tell me that he was going to a meeting with an Australian investor named Felix Wallace. Easton was making a purchase for his investment in preparation for when he might one day launch a textile business, and he’s a very significant client. He was interested in venturing into new areas of the company in order to penetrate larger consumer markets.

And it's possible that he was in the middle of the meeting when he suddenly thought of texting me again.
