“Ready, dear?”
My mother's voice took away all my anxious thoughts, regaining my posture I responded to her with a smile that wasn’t too joyful nor too sad.
“I am, Mother…”
“But where is Tom, it’s getting late…” My mother pointed out, and even though I was in a dull mood because of Tom’s absence, I felt slightly pleased with my mother’s appearance.
Today, she wore an expensive designer dress, pairing it with diamond studs, a platinum bracelet, and a ring.
My mother looked like a gorgeous and elegant boss lady.
Today, there was not a slight image of her past, no old clothes, no lack of confidence, nor did she look ordinary at all.
“He isn’t coming,” I told her, and her face started to wrinkle in worry.
“Besides, two women together never got the need for a man.” Hooking my arm with my mother’s I tried to ease her anxiety.
She smiled giving me relief and then we headed outside straight to the White Bentley, which I arranged specially for tonight’s dinner.
