Chapter 21 THE INTERVIEW

NAYA’S P O V

I stood frozen as I felt my heart pumping faster and harder. Even the sound of the blood pumping in my ears was audible to me. I experienced a brief sensation of dizziness in my head, and my palms continued to run with sweat. I gulped down hard when I noticed five people sitting behind a long table a few steps away from where I stood.

Four of them were looking intently at me, while the other one who was in the very last seat, was hardly looking at me---his head bent, and his eyes fixed on the sheets of paper in front of him. It was difficult for me to get a good look at him, but he appeared to be someone I had seen before, or maybe... I was just imagining things.

I looked away from that man and plastered a smile on my face. ‘‘Please sit down, Miss…’’ The middle-aged woman who was dressed in a purple suit gestured her hand for me to take a seat in the leather chair in front of them.
