NAYA’S P O V
I headed to the hospital to pay Nico a visit after I got off from work, but on the way there, I received a call from his doctor. ‘‘I’m sorry to inform you, that your nephew’s condition worsened, and he needs to undergo chemotherapy…’’
‘‘What?’’ I swallowed the lump in my throat. ‘‘How did that happen? Aren’t you treating him?’’
‘‘We are doing our best to fight the chronic disease. But leukemia is a treacherous one, and the spread of the virus in his body could no longer be stopped. We should do chemotherapy as soon as possible…’’
This only means that I need additional funds because chemotherapy is not a joke. It would undoubtedly be expensive, as I would have to pay for each session.
‘‘Nico…’’ The sight of him writhing in agony caused my heart to break into a million pieces. I couldn't do anything but hug him tightly and cry in silence.
What should I do now? I could no longer apply for an advance salary at the company.
