Naya's P O V
''Aunt Naya!'' Nico's joyful expression stopped me in my tracks, and I gazed at him, my mouth agape and disbelief etching my features.
This was the first time I had seen his face radiate such happiness and his smile stretch so broadly since I brought him here.
I yearned to believe he was on the mend, but reality held firm. His doctor had already informed me that his chances of surviving a grave illness like leukemia were slim.
''Nico...'' I set my bag down and knelt to embrace him as he approached. It was only when I wrapped my arms around him that I realized he wasn't as skinny as before. ''How are you feeling?'' I inquired, pulling away to look at him, as tears of joy began to form in my eyes.
''I'm feeling better...'' he declared, his smile unwavering. ''The nurse mentioned my blood counts are getting back to normal. What does that mean?'' he asked with innocent curiosity. I enveloped him in another tight hug, my tears freely flowing.
