Chapter 74: Lanevus

"Related to me?" Klein was genuinely puzzled. He couldn't think of anything Lynn might report that would be connected to him.

Could Lynn have reported the Fool?

Klein muttered to himself but didn't really believe it. After all, he thought Lynn couldn't be that absurd.

"Do you remember the fraudster Lanevus, the accomplice who almost brought down the True Creator's offspring during the Tingen incident, the supposed father of the evil god's child?" Fortunately, Crestet Cesimir didn't intend to keep him in suspense and directly explained.

"The Nighthawks have been tracking his whereabouts, but we've only determined that he hasn't left Loen Kingdom. We haven't been able to pinpoint his exact location," Crestet Cesimir paused, his expression becoming more nuanced, before continuing, "Lynn Sotos's report is about Lanevus. He claims that while handling a commission, he unexpectedly found Lanevus at the dockworkers' union. He was being protected and monitored by members of the Aurora Order."

Crestet Cesimir's grip on the letter tightened, and his expression grew increasingly serious, "Not only that, but Lynn Sotos also felt an extremely dangerous, suspected aura of a fallen evil god from Lanevus. He also noticed the Aurora Order members' devout and fanatical attitude towards Lanevus, despite restricting his freedom. He suspects that Lanevus might be transforming into a vessel for the True Creator's descent."

"The Evernight Church hasn't confirmed this information yet, but given Lynn Sotos's usual reliability, this report is likely true."

Klein was stunned.

He had expected Lynn's report to be significant, but he hadn't imagined it would involve Lanevus, nor that Lanevus might become a vessel for the True Creator's descent.

Could it be that during the evil ritual Lanevus conducted to summon the evil god's offspring, he himself was polluted and transformed by the True Creator?

Klein speculated. He had no sympathy for the fraudster Lanevus, feeling that any fate he faced would be well-deserved. However, Klein was worried about the potential destruction if this issue wasn't resolved in time.

If the True Creator truly descended using Lanevus's body, the consequences would be far worse than the evil god's offspring incident in Tingen. Even if the church had some means to banish the True Creator again, many people would die in the process.

Thinking this, Klein looked at Crestet Cesimir and said, "This information was probably given to Lynn Sotos by that angel. He encountered the angel again this morning."

"Unfortunately, I only know about the encounter because Lynn mentioned it, so I still haven't located the angel."

"This makes the information even more credible," Crestet Cesimir nodded, his expression growing even graver. He then looked at Klein reassuringly, "This isn't your fault. If an angel doesn't want to meet you yet, there are a thousand ways to avoid you. However, since the angel guided you and Lynn Sotos to meet and conveyed this important information to the church, it shows that the angel doesn't reject the church and even holds goodwill towards it. When the time is right, you might meet the angel."

"Or the angel wants you to find the clues yourself. This might be a small test. Don't worry, the church supports you."

"I understand," Klein nodded but couldn't help asking, "What does the church plan to do about this?"

"I will notify the higher-ups immediately to discuss how to handle this. Rest assured, the church will not allow the True Creator to descend. We won't give the Aurora Order any chance," Crestet Cesimir said firmly.

Unlike the Turani von Helmosuin's manuscript incident, which the church regarded with moderate concern, an incident involving an evil god's descent was taken very seriously. Such a threat could result in the death of hundreds or thousands of people, or even the destruction of Loen Kingdom.

The Evernight Church would not take this lightly.

The Evernight Church, once fully enraged, was not to be trifled with.

For instance, in the original series, after receiving the report about Lanevus, the Evernight Church quickly pinpointed his location and took immediate action.

"Is there anything I can do to help?" Klein asked eagerly. He was willing to assist in preventing the True Creator's descent, both to avert disaster and for retribution against Lanevus for his past crimes.

"Just keep an eye on Lynn Sotos. Leave the rest to us," Crestet Cesimir instructed.

"Alright," Klein nodded, slightly disappointed but his mind active.

Even if the church didn't want him involved, he could still secretly observe the operation. As long as he didn't get too close to the battlefield, it shouldn't be a problem.

Even if the church found him, they wouldn't do much more than give him a reprimand. Besides, with "Creeping Hunger," he had some combat power. If an emergency arose, he might even be able to help.

Klein resolved to watch from a distance when the church took action. He couldn't rest until he saw Lanevus pay for his madness.

He hadn't forgotten the innocent girl, Megose, who died because of Lanevus, nor the evil god's offspring that almost wiped out their Tingen team.

While Ince Zangwill might be the main culprit, Lanevus was a major accomplice.
