Chapter 269: Plan to Call Mr. Door

"Actually, regarding doing volunteer work, you don't need to be so resistant. After all, your faith in your ancestor is quite firm, isn't it? Even if Father Utravsky tries to convert you to the faith of the Earth Mother, as long as your own will is strong, it shouldn't be a problem, right?"

Lynn continued to smile as he spoke. Then, with a slight hesitation, he asked, "Or is your faith in your ancestor just an act, and you're worried that you might waver because you're not as steadfast as you claim?"

"Impossible! My faith in my ancestor will never be shaken by anyone!" Emlyn replied firmly, his tone carrying a hint of dissatisfaction. Clearly, he was displeased with Lynn's suspicion. He then snorted and said, "Fine, I'll do volunteer work, but I will never change my faith in my ancestor."

"Good luck!" Lynn responded with respect and encouragement.

He glanced towards the hall, as if sensing something, and said, "Since you agreed, I'll inform Father Utravsky. He'll come to release you shortly."

"Then hurry up and tell him." Emlyn's voice came from behind the stone door, eager to leave the place.

Lynn turned and left the living area, soon arriving back in the hall. There, he saw two people simultaneously opening their eyes.

Klein appeared somewhat fatigued but not excessively so, looking like someone who had just been through a battle.

Father Utravsky, on the other hand, was now seated in a chair, head bowed and clutching his head. He shivered before lifting his head, tears streaming down his face.

These were tears of joy and rebirth. Father Utravsky's eyes were now clear, giving off the impression of a fresh mentality.

"Wow!" Lynn exclaimed in awe. He then moved beside Klein, smiling, "You did a good job!"

"Where did you go just now?" Klein asked, giving Lynn a sidelong glance, pointing out his partner's earlier absence.

"You can't blame me for that. Your battle was in the dreamland, and I couldn't see anything from outside the dream..." Lynn shrugged innocently. Then, as if remembering something, he added, "But it's not a big deal. If not this time, there will be a next time. There will always be opportunities for battles."

Lynn then curiously asked, "Have you digested your Magician potion?"

"I've digested part of it, but not much. It might be because an audience isn't strictly necessary for a Magician, or maybe because Father Utravsky was also considered an audience... Regarding the acting principle of the Magician, I've confirmed one of its aspects." Klein explained quietly.

Although the experiment on how Lynn's presence as an audience affected the potion's digestion wasn't successful, Klein had gained valuable experience from the battle with the Dawn Knight. He also confirmed that 'A Magician doesn't perform without preparation' was an acting principle.

"At this rate, you'll advance to Sequence 6 in less than two months." Lynn commented, stroking his chin. He then remembered something and said, "By the way, I spoke with Emlyn White. He agreed to do an hour of volunteer work at the church each day. Once Father Utravsky releases him, we can send him home. I'll split the commission fee with you."

Lynn paused, smiling, and added, "I have to say, he's quite an interesting guy. I think you could talk to him; you might even become friends. Moreover, knowing a Sanguine could be beneficial for you. They have some channels that ordinary Beyonders don't."

Klein's interest was piqued.

Though he wasn't as desperate for resources and knowledge as in the original story, given his affiliation with the Evernight Church, but the resources available to him were limited. Having an additional channel for acquiring Beyonder materials and secret knowledge would be advantageous.

Moreover, Klein didn't want to rely solely on the Evernight Church. He knew he was being monitored and guided, which made him cautious about becoming too dependent. He wanted more independence, just in case his relationship with the church soured in the future.

Though the possibility was small, Klein had to consider it.

It wasn't paranoia but necessary caution.

Who could guarantee that the Evernight Goddess, who currently supported him for some reason, wouldn't abandon him in favor of another suitable candidate for whatever reason in the future?

Klein didn't want to think ill of the Evernight Goddess, but the mysteries surrounding her and her ambiguous attitude made him wary.

From a certain perspective, Klein's caution was justified. The Evernight Goddess's style suggested that if a more suitable candidate for the reason she is supporting him appeared, she might indeed abandon him.

"You are much stronger than I expected." Father Utravsky finally snapped out of his newfound state, smiling warmly at Klein.

Klein responded with a blend of candor and humility.

After some polite exchanges, Father Utravsky said, "As agreed, I will give you the Apothecary formula or its equivalent. Additionally, you may choose a sealed artifact from me."

"You can choose one of these two..." Father Utravsky then took out two sealed artifact from his pocket. The first artifact was clearly from the Apothecary pathway, with effects like healing and enhancing speed and strength, though it had significant side effects.

The other artifact was the Master Key linked to Mr. Door, originating from a failed member of the Abraham family. In the original story, this key saved Klein's life and prevented the descent of the True Creator at the end of the second volume.

Lynn stared at the key, suddenly having an idea.

Given the key's close connection to Mr. Door, could he use it to call Mr. Door?

Lynn admitted he was curious about Bethel's current state. If he could help Bethel improve his situation, that would be even better.
