" Come on Tori, who hurt you. Just tell me and consider everything already solved." Saying that, Henry pulled away from Victoria and stared at her tear stained face.
" No! No! not at all, Henry. (pauses) It happened again!". Victoria cried out aloud. Henry had to hush her to prevent their children from hearing them.
" What happened again, Tori? " Bound in a state of fear and dilemma, Henry asked the anticipated question Victoria waited for.
" Henry am pregnant again ooo, hei!!!! I swear hunny, I protected myself but I don't know how it all happened. Don't worry, I'll get to the root of the matter, I'll just abort it at this early ...." Henry cut her off sharply.
" No, you're not going to commit such a grievous sin!!! "
" Then tell me Henry! tell me how we're going to raise this child when even taking care of Nathan!Solace and Philip is not an easy!" Victoria lashed out at him.
" Victoria, get a grip on yourself. With God, nothing is impossible and if you have faith that it will be well, then it will certainly be well. Children are gifts from God, so let me ask you this question. Will you on purpose dump a gift that God has whole heartedly given you (rhetorical) No! because he says he makes things beautiful in his own time. Let's just keep praying, that God would give us the needed strength to be able to take care of this child too instead of you sitting here and spouting whatever nonsense that comes out of your mouth. Remember abortion is an indirect way of commiting murder and to commit murder, my dear wife is way out of your league. Come here." Henry embraced his wife to console her.
With renewed energy and hope, Victoria went ahead to carry out her daily activities. When the children heard they were about to have another sibling, they were so happy especially Philip who danced around the house like a chicken.
Henry was now determined more than ever to work more diligently this time. During the past few years, Henry had deliberately saved a lot of money with the aim of opening an electrical shop. Within that short month of Victoria's conception, Henry opened a brand new container electrical shop which he left in the care of his first child, Nathan who just recently graduated from Junior high school. As days elapsed, much income emanated from their new electrical shop. Henry was also thriving gracefully in his workplace and Victoria saved sufficient money for baby items.
Henry returned home one fateful Monday from work very lively. For the past sixteen years that Victoria had known Henry, she had never recounted seeing him filled with this kind of unusual ecstacy. When Victoria asked why he was in cloud nine today, he handed a slip of paper actually encased in a neat brown envelope over to her.
" Oh my God!!! " Victoria screamed with delight after reading the content on the slip of paper. Actually, Henry had been selected among the ten most industrious workers in their company, to join the company's largest branch in UK (London). According to what's on the paper, workers who had been posted from Ghana to UK return back home to their local country after six months and spend a few weeks with family and friends.
" But Henry the terms attached to this offer is very awkward. How can you be living there for good six months and just spend only two to three weeks with your family. Isn't it too unfair." Victoria expressed her worry in a pout.
" But hunny, it's for our own good. There, I'll be receiving a free accomodation and free three- square meals plus my salary would be increased by a thousand cedis which means I'll be earning twelve thousand at the end of every month and I get five hundred cedis bonus every fortnight. Let's forget about the conditions involved and just cooperate with each other. We can do this Victoria."
"So when are you supposed to leave? " Victoria asked still not okay about the conditions.
" Next week Tuesday!"
" So early?!!!" She exclaimed to Henry's astound. Why is next week Tuesday a forbidden day to travel??? Henry wondered.
" Yeah, so early. It's rather unfortunate I'll be leaving on Philips birthday too when the boy turns three years. But I'll try my best to placate him before I leave. I'll be calling lately to find out how everyone is faring and I guess send money for their upkeep."
