Chapter 11: Forced to be high-profile!

Lin Yourong was still that virtuous woman who was as adept in the hall as she was in the kitchen. After bringing Tang Ye into the house, she knew he had been busy all day and immediately went to the fridge to get some ingredients to make him something to eat.

Sitting comfortably on the sofa, Tang Ye rested and watched Lin Yourong bustling in the kitchen with a faint smile, feeling very content. He was a man who lived in the present. Life was only so many years, so why fuss over so much. If you could be happy for a day, you were happy for a day, "Live for today for tomorrow we may die."

At that moment, Lin Yourong poked her head out of the kitchen, looking tenderly at Tang Ye, and said, "You haven't changed your clothes yet, have you? After dinner, let's go out and buy some things, then you can have a shower, okay?"

"Okay, thank you," Tang Ye said with a polite smile.

Lin Yourong smiled and went back to preparing the meal. She was happy to do so, though she couldn't explain why. Perhaps it was a sense of anticipation. Deep down in her heart, she definitely had feelings for Tang Ye, otherwise she wouldn't be so diligent, worried about not hosting him well.

When it was time to eat, Tang Ye looked at Lin Yourong and joked with a laugh, "You must be a virtuous wife. Suddenly I feel very lucky to have met you. Looking at it this way, getting sick isn't such a bad thing after all, haha!"

Lin Yourong pretended to glare at Tang Ye, thinking he was being a bit frivolous again, and huffed, "You think being sick is nice, huh, really…"

But then, Lin Yourong suddenly laughed, seeming very gratified and happy, and said, "Actually, you really don't have to be polite. I think it's quite nice having you here. You don't know, my grandfather used to be very busy and always came home late. Even if I had finished cooking, I could only eat alone. Now… having someone to accompany me, I'm truly happy…"

So that was why. Tang Ye was taken aback for a moment, feeling a bit of compassion for the girl. She was easily contented, and she had many many shining points.

"If that's the case, I might as well eat and drink at your expense every day," Tang Ye said to Lin Yourong with a smile, trying to keep the atmosphere as light as possible.

"Sure, you are very welcome," Lin Yourong agreed cheerfully.

After finishing their meal, Tang Ye wanted to help clean up, washing the dishes and wiping the table and such. But Lin Yourong wouldn't let him, telling him to rest properly. He couldn't persuade Lin Yourong, so he let her clean up. Then he looked at Lin Yourong, and suddenly felt like he was living a domestic life with a wife, which gave rise to many thoughts since he had never had such an experience before.

He looked at Lin Yourong, who was still wearing her casual skirt and petite blazer uniform but had swapped her high heels for a pair of soft cotton slippers, revealing her heels and calves—a pinnacle of beauty. It is said that feet are a woman's second face, and a woman with beautiful feet is seen as nearing perfection. Lin Yourong possessed such beauty.

"Really…" Tang Ye sighed. Such a beautiful woman, alone with him in a room—it was a bit much for a man, but he was a gentleman. Even if they were fiancés, he would never do anything inappropriate before the feelings were properly nurtured!

After a full meal and some rest, once their bellies had digested the meal quite a bit, Lin Yourong took Tang Ye to the mall to buy clothes and some essential living items as they had planned.

It was just getting dark, and the bustling Yanjing was entering its lively and noisy nightlife. Lin Yourong's car had been hit by Yang Jiaxiong and had to be taken for repairs. They decided not to seek compensation from Yang Jiaxiong; after all, he had paid a bigger price.

They drove out, parked the car at the repair shop, and then walked the streets. Lin Yourong carried her purse in one hand, radiating the alluring charm of a woman and the sophisticated taste that matures with men. Passersby who saw Tang Ye with such a beautiful woman all looked on with envy.

Walking the streets with a beautiful woman could be a boastful matter. Men like to save face, especially when that face is given by a woman, as it makes them feel particularly proud. But whenever Tang Ye was stared at, he felt weary. It was like being forced into the spotlight. There was another issue, too—the envious looks from men seemed to carry a sense of comparison, and after comparing, there was a hint of disdain.

They probably thought he wasn't good enough for Lin Yourong, since his attire was a bit too shabby.

"Let's go in here. I think the clothes inside look pretty good," Lin Yourong said, stopping in front of a brand store with men's clothing on display behind glass windows, smiling at Tang Ye.

Tang Ye subconsciously checked the price tag and exclaimed in surprise, "Over two thousand for clothes? Isn't that too expensive?"

Lin Yourong smiled cheerily and said, "As long as you're comfortable in it, no price is too high."

"You make me sound like a kept man, even though we do have a certain relationship, has it progressed this fast?" Tang Ye teased on purpose.

"No, that's not it..." Lin Yourong always took him seriously, aware that Tang Ye was referring to their engagement, which made her a bit panicked, but she still steadied herself and explained, "I don't lack that little money. Normally, my grandfather and I don't really spend much... money is pointless if just kept around..."

This... Oh boy, Tang Ye found this earnest display a bit like showing off. Is this a case of having too much money with nowhere to spend it?

Actually, that might just be the case. As the director of the city's number one hospital, Chen Shuqing must be receiving a decent salary. And coming from the old generation, he harbors simple, frugal thoughts at heart and has no real need to spend much. Lin Yourong, being a reserved girl, also lacks extravagant habits, so she is still quite wealthy.

Tang Ye didn't continue to refuse, not wanting to seem overly sentimental, and said, "Alright, I'll use your money for now, but once I start earning, I'll keep you well-fed and plump."

"Stop being so improper!" Lin Yourong scolded Tang Ye with a white glance.

The more time the two spent like this, the more natural and comfortable they became in each other's company.

As they pushed the door and entered, an enthusiastic salesgirl came over to greet them immediately. The salesgirl was quite attractive, tall and leggy, donning high heels and black stockings, looking more beautiful than many other women. Lin Yourong didn't allow Tang Ye to have much interaction with these women, always shifting from her shy and gentle character to a domineering and assertive one on this matter.

Tang Ye was quite helpless with her, feeling as if their relationship was indeed like that of a married couple; it also seemed as though he was being made out to be a womanizer.

With Lin Yourong, the skillful and diligent fiancée helping to pick out clothes, it didn't take long to buy two suitable outfits. Tang Ye carried the clothes while Lin Yourong took out her card to pay.

"Eh, isn't that Miss Lin?" While Lin Yourong was paying, a man's voice suddenly came from behind them.

Tang Ye and Lin Yourong turned to look and saw a man in his thirties, wearing a pair of white-framed glasses, appearing cultured and refined. The woman clinging to his arm looked to be in her late twenties, several years older than Lin Yourong, dressed in a coquettish and provocative manner, seeming rather open compared to the man's scholarly demeanor.

Since they were intimately linked together, they were probably a couple or lovers.

Upon seeing the two, Lin Yourong frowned slightly with a hint of aversion and said, "Director Zhao, Head Nurse Li, what a coincidence."

"It really is Miss Lin." Zhao Yi looked at Lin Yourong with a fervent gaze and said cheerfully.

Li Qian tugged at him harshly and said with a hostile tone, "Director Zhao, you see? Everyone says Nurse Lin is the pure nurse flower of our hospital, but I always said she wasn't. Look here, oh my, isn't she keeping a little pretty boy? All of you fawn over her one by one, yet you don't catch her eye at all."

With a mouth full of sarcasm, Li Qian seemed to have quite a bone to pick with Lin Yourong.
