The sudden ringing of the doorbell abruptly ended the conversation between Fu Jing and Jiang Muwan. The person nestled in the bed was listless, whilst the person standing at the foot of the bed was hardly in good spirits.
After a moment of silence, Fu Jing looked at Jiang Muwan with a half-smile and said, "Do you think it might be Gu Jiangnian?"
The latter did not respond. Out of Fu Jing's sight, the hand clutching the hot water bottle tightened.
Fu Jing's words were undoubtedly a stab to the heart; admitting she had fallen for Gu Jiangnian was no easy feat, especially since the marriage hadn't started on a beautiful note.
It's human nature; if you start with a piece of dog shit, even if it turns into sugar later, there will always be a psychological shadow.
And so it was with her and Gu Jiangnian.
Jiang Muwan was not someone inexperienced in love. During her years abroad, she had managed to remain unattached despite being amidst a sea of temptations.
