It was silently that Yuzuru entered Mia's car on the passenger side as if it was something normal.

One thing was true, the woman didn't expect to have dinner with an Olympic Champion today, but here they were...

"Are you sure it doesn't bother you, Mr. Hanyu?" she had asked when he was placing his bags in the trunk of the car.

"It will be a pleasure, Mia. If it's truly alright with you."

"I don't mind... it's not hard to cook for one more."

He was close, too close for her brain to function properly. Yuzuru looked around for a few seconds before his lips came dangerously close to her and moved to whisper in her ear. "I will say it just once more. Call me Yuzu."

A shiver ran through her body, the images in her brain far too sinful given that her child was mere meters away.

Get a grip, Mia. It's a guy like any other.

The car ride was silent and slightly awkward until Alex got back to being his bubbly self, speaking excitedly to Yuzuru about things that she couldn't quite understand and that were certainly about skating.

After that, it seemed like the trip took far less time and soon enough they were parking on the sidewalk of her house.

The place wasn't exactly huge. It had been a choice of Mia's to not overspend on her first house, especially since she wasn't particularly tied to Toronto and wanted to keep her options open if any opportunity ever arose for her or Alex, especially him.

It was no lie that her whole life since he was born was completely dedicated to him and there were absolutely no regrets about that. Not only did her son give her reasons to live every day, but he also made her want to be a better person.

"Can I take my bags with me?" she heard Yuzuru ask as they exited the car.

"Of course, unless you want me to take you home later, you can leave them there if you want."

"No, you don't need to. I'll have a driver pick me up."

It was certainly a different reality than what Mia was used to, but not that surprising. It stupidly reminded her of Nyck's rich ass, that always had stuff like that planned out.

Not that she should even be thinking of comparing the two men...

Moving on from those thoughts, Mia opened the front door with her key and allowed Alex to guide the other man into the house.

Her son didn't waste much more time before excitedly starting to guide his favorite skater through every room, showing him the living room, dining room, kitchen, Mia's office, his room, and even the restrooms.

Let's just say that the skater soon knew this house almost as well as his own.

Mia didn't know how to act with Yuzuru here. He was a foreign presence inside her house and even if he didn't do it on purpose, it was hard for her to act normally with him around.

"Mommy, can we play video games?"

"I guess..."

The two boys were quickly settled in the living room with remotes in their hands, playing some kind of game that she didn't understand.

What she did know was that Alex was quickly getting attached to Yuzuru and it worried her that it would eventually break his heart when the Japanese left.

It was still incredibly heart-warming to see them interacting. Yuzuru was always casually checking on Alex with simple looks. Mia had noticed this almost as soon as she saw them sit on the couch but while observing their exchange, she saw that it was actually something that the skater kept on doing time and time again.

Interrupting them was something she had been avoiding, but she eventually gathered the courage to break the moment for just a few seconds.

"Hey... I was wondering what you wanted for dinner?" she asked looking softly at Yuzuru. Mia knew her son well, but she had no idea what the other skater liked.

"Anything is fine, really."

"Is there anything you don't like?"

"huh... I'm not a big fan of peppers. Everything else should be fine."

"What about you, little champion? Any ideas?"

"Lasagna?"

"If Yuzuru likes it..."

The man gave her a pointed look and Mia knew why, she was still refusing to call him Yuzu after all.

"Sure, that sounds good."

"Do you mind watching Alex for a few minutes while I change?" she ended up awkwardly asking Yuzuru. "He's usually alright by himself but since you're here..."

"I don't mind watching him at all, Mia. It's the least I can do. Take all the time you need"

With a smile, she quickly excused herself upstairs to end up staring at her closet for a few minutes.

What do you even wear at something like this?

He didn't seem to care that much and it wasn't as if she was trying to impress him with her looks at home...

Not at all...

But even if she cared about his opinion, it wasn't as if the man himself wasn't wearing a tracksuit and sneakers.

Mia ended up going with a pair of leggins and a t-shirt from her workout clothes, it was the safest choice after all.

She wasn't dressing to impress.

The woman also took a claw clip and tied her hair with it. She hated cooking or doing any house tasks with her hair down, an old habit that she had inherited from her mom.

Going down the stairs, she saw them in the exact same position that she left them, with Alex screaming at the screen.

"Alex... keep it down, please. We don't need the neighbors complaining again."

The sound of her voice was enough to make both boys turn in her direction, making Mia suddenly feel very conscious about what she was wearing as Yuzuru's eyes ran through her body in a slow, determined way. It was almost as if he was attempting to save every detail in his brain.

The worst of it all was that she liked it.
