Getting lost in the feeling of his soft lips wasn't hard.
Mia felt in heaven when she felt his kiss for the first time.
They stayed like that for a while, exchanging soft pecks before his hand grabbed her waist he pulled her close, using the opportunity of her small moan to place his tongue on hers.
It was a short fight for dominance, hands touching and exploring what they hadn't before.
Everything was electrifying but equally scary.
It was too fast, too much.
Thankfully, Yuzuru understood that without any words, pulling away after a few minutes of their exchange.
"I needed to do that." He said while still gasping for air.
"I'm glad you did." She answered biting her lip. This man would be the death of her. She knew that now.
"Friends...huh?
"If someone didn't flirt so much..."
"Me?"
Mia licked her lips, nodding and he pecked them once again before kissing her forehead. "You don't seem to hate my flirting"
"I don't hate anything related to you. That's precisely the problem"
"I like you too"
He said, still holding her waist in the same position of their kiss, sweetly rubbing under her shirt but never going any higher than her back.
"I kinda wish we could make this work."
"Maybe we can"
"I don't know, Yuzu. My life is in Canada and yours is in Japan. I doubt you want to move here any time soon and I honestly don't think I can handle doing a distance thing."
"How about we take this one step at a time?"
"And delay the inevitable?"
"No... enjoying what feels good."
And his lips were back on hers, almost making Mia forget that he still had to pack and that she had to be up at an early hour to work.
It was just as Yuzu had said, enjoying what felt good.
Being there like that meant no further responsibilities, no work problems, and no drama about what the future held.
"I will see you soon... "
"Yeah..."
Finally letting him go was one of the hardest things that Mia ever did, not because of the action itself but because she wasn't sure whenever the opportunity to hold him again would come.
She did let go eventually, a forced smile on her face as she avoided his dark eyes.
"Mia." He called out, seemingly noticing her hesitation. "Please look at me."
"I can't"
He had only known her for 2 weeks, but noticing her weak and fragile voice wasn't hard.
One of his hands went under her chin and forced her eyes on his, not surprised to see them full of tears.
"Oh, love... Please don't cry."
Before she knew it, he was pulling her into his embrace again in a tight hug.
"I'm sorry, it's silly."
"Shh"
"Yuzu... You will never leave if we keep this up."
That seemed to make him realize just how long they had been in front of the door, attempting to say their goodbyes for far too long.
"I will go, but don't disappear on me. You have my number, we can call, text, and everything else."
"Yes."
"Alex would probably like that too."
"He likes you too much, that's why I worry."
"I won't disappear either, it's a promise."
Mia couldn't help but smile at those words, he always found a way to make her wonder what having someone by her side could be. She had been so used to being alone that all of this was just too new.
"Just go, you silly man."
And he did, but not before kissing her one last time. He left with a smirk on his face, knowing exactly how much that final kiss stirred her.
Let's just say that Mia didn't get any sleep that night, not with everything in her head, not with thoughts of him and his sinful mouth on hers.
It was barely 5 am and she was already up, trying to liven up with coffee. It wasn't hard to tell when Mia was completely exhausted, because she usually avoided coffee. But not today.
Alex woke up by himself 2 hours later and found his mother sitting in the kitchen looking out the window.
"Mommy? Are you okay?"
Mia hated that her son could always see right through her, understanding whenever she was feeling down without much difficulty.
"I'm fine. What do you want for breakfast?"
He ate in silence, constantly staring at her as if he was trying to understand what was going on with her.
"Mom..."
"I'm okay, Alex."
"I miss Yuzuru too." He admitted, shocking her that he was so smart and able to tell what was in her mind.
"He just left, honey."
"So?"
Mia smiled, she couldn't exactly fight Alex in this, not when she was feeling probably worse than her son.
"I promised him we would call. So it will be ok. We just have to be strong for a bit yes?"
"Ok..."
That was exactly what Mia tried to be in the next few days, even if she was almost zombie-like at work with all the sleep that she had been missing.
She didn't even exchange texts with Yuzu for the first week, Mia guessed he was too busy and she was far too anxious to be the one taking the initiative to start contact.
You can't be too desperate, she thought to herself.
But she was. The Japanese man had shown her a side of life that she hadn't thought of in years.
And that's exactly why she made the next decision.
It was time to explore Japan.
