alone in a flood of monsters

There he was standing face to face with a flood of monsters from a dungeon, but as Zain looked around, he was not just looking from the outskirts. He was smack dabbed in the middle of the flood. Thinking for a moment, Zain realized that he was out of bullets and only had his rapier and the backup supplies for the breaking of the flood. Quickly he holstered his gun and pulled out another vial of acid and instead of arching it like before threw it directly at the wolf who seemed to instinctively catch it.

Zain's face went pale as the wolf started writhing in pain after biting down on the vial. Acid dripping from its mouth and burning away at the flesh next Zain used this as a distraction as he threw his other bottle of Hell fire off and over some of the flood in the opposite direction. As if it were second nature, he pulled out the explosive and his gun, lit the fuse using the firing pin, and threw it in the same direction and waited. While waiting he saw the ensuing chaos and decided to pull out his rapier as it would be easier to deal with more enemies without having to reload. About five seconds after throwing the explosive, there was a loud BOOM, followed by an eruption of liquid fire. It was enthralling and yet frightening at the same time.

After the explosion and eruption of fire, Zain made quick work getting out of the way he used his rapier as a way to quickly maim or brush through monsters. He would kick off of them occasionally recognizing that they were growing tired from the fighting to stay away from the hell fire rushing out in all directions. Suddenly, Zain found himself standing right beside the giant wolf who had started this whole thing. The liquid fire was subsiding about one hundred yards away and the flood was down to about a quarter of the size upon him showing up. Zain knew what he had to do, he had to face this giant wolf.

The wolf itself didn't look menacing but the aura of it combined with its sheer size was enough to make anyone want to run. The wolf was about ten foot tall with its body being about seven or eight foot wide and being about fifteen foot long from snout to the tip of its tail. Zain gulped hard as he noticed the wolfs gaze shift his way. This was it; he gripped his rapier harder than before. He knew that gripping this hard wasn't good form, but he also knew that to keep his nerves calm and maintain his grip it would be necessary.

The wolf lurched forward towards Zain and immediately went to swipe at his midsection. Zain took a quick leap backwards and sliced into its fore paw and waited in anticipation. This wasn't like the one he fought before. These battle instincts were on par with the generals of the royal knights. The royal knights were known for their battle magical intellect and applications. This wolf will be a match to remember, Zain started to think. Just as the thought crossed his mind, the wolf lurched again, this time baring its fangs and opening its mouth. Zain quickly side stepped and gave it a deep cut into the neck. That would be enough for it to bleed out over time, but time was not on his side. The wolf started pouncing and lunging towards Zain forcing him to focus all of his movements on strictly evading and not giving in for a counterattack.

While evading, Zain sheathed his rapier and drew his pistol emptying the empty shells on the ground. While still moving away from the wolf, he reached into his pouch on his side and pulled out five bullets to reload his revolver. At this point he was wishing he had made an upgraded version to have more ammunition in. When Zain had reloaded his gun, he knew what he had to do with the blood matting the fur and the wolf now driving him back towards the flood, Zain steadied his aim and fired. The Bullet penetrated the skull and the wolf fell limp. With three quarters of the flood downed due to his alchemical contraptions Zain only had one last vial of hell fire and one explosive.

He pulled out Hell fire first and threw it, this caused the monsters to stir as the had seen this trick before but just as the liquid hit the ground, the threw the explosive right at it and Boom, half of what was left was delt with. Refocusing on his gun, he took aim and fired, thinning out the crown further while keeping his distance.

Zain kept back peddling and trying to keep his distance while unloading his gun into the remnant of the flood, before he knew it, he was out of ammo and there was still an Orc left to be delt with. Zain swallowed hard out of anxiety, holstered his gun, and drew his rapier as the orc drew up its giant axe. Zain knew he would not be long for this world if he made one misstep here. He lunged in as the orc swung down narrowly avoiding the attack and then commenced cutting the spots of its body that housed tendons to keep it movable. Before long, Zain looked around and found himself alone among what was once a flood and now were just dead monster carcasses. He breathed a sigh of relief and just started collecting necessary items for identification and hopefully some form of payment upon his return.
