unspoken message

Upon arriving at the scorched earth that used to be where the flood was, Zain first did a perimeter sweep with everyone accompanying him. The Diameter of this area seemed to be about 240 yards and there wasn't even a flower left from the wake of the flood just burnt corpses and ashes. Zain was solemn in the fact that he had caused this much destruction but also knew that the situation was kill or be killed.

After walking around and examining the area, the group all journeyed deeper into the area that looked like it was struck by a curse or massive bomb. Zain stood in silence for a moment then whispered to himself lost in thought, "It's a shame that this was the best place for night lilies." As if a revelation just hit everyone at once the guild official spun around along with Zain's mother and approached him very rapidly.

"You said this spot was the best place for Night Lilies?" The guild official asked almost abruptly while approaching. "Yes, it used to have small clusters around. They are pretty and useful in alchemical work but very rare around here." Zain responded thinking about how they could be used as toxins to induce a poison that allowed peaceful passing. "And willingly caught fire to the area?" The guild official kept pushing as if trying to get out of the area of scorched earth. "I harvested them six days ago and even in the most nutritious soil it takes nearly a month for them to sprout again." Zain said this as if it was common knowledge. After he had spoken everyone seemed to calm down. "I can show you the ones I have drying from that harvest when we return, so I can assure you it was safe to do so." Everyone else who had seemed to be holding their breath let out a sigh of relief at this.

They kept searching the area until the moon was about above them and Zain joined in, not sure what they were looking for, but he was looking for anything out of the ordinary. The guild official started using some language Zain didn't understand before switching back to the common language for the area, "It doesn't appear to be in this area." The guild official said, obviously heated about this. "What doesn't?" Zain asked, still lost in what they were looking for. "The entrance to the dungeon, sorry I forgot you're new to all this." The guild official responded genuinely. Zain looked a little more then, noticed a rock right outside the scorched area of earth and went to go investigate it.

After walking over to the rock, Zain did a lap around it and then scratched his stubbled chin as he hadn't shaved in about a week. Then went around again for good measure and then proceeded to try to move the rock, that was no good. Damascus took note and came over while Zain was in the middle of a push. He proceeded to easily lift the rock and Zain saw it. "It appears to be here." Zain spoke as he rushed under the rock to lift it from a better angle as Damascus just rolled it away and everyone approached.

The guild official came over to inspect this then looked at the giant rock that had been placed there. Zain started to notice the wax seals around the frame and pressed into the lock. His mother and father both approached cautiously as the situation was tense.

"This dungeon was sealed once upon a time for one reason or another." Damascus finally let out as if to clue in Zain.

Zain always an inquisitive one asked the simple question, "What are the normal reasons for one to be sealed?"

The Guild official took a deep breath then answered Zain. "The usual reasons for official sealings are Demons, Liches, and sometimes depending on severity, Vampires. These usually happen in dungeons that have already had their core destroyed however, sometimes in very rare conditions, there is a second core that is awakened further expanding a dungeon and breathing new life into it." The whole group looked in shock as they spoke of this revelation. Zain gulped hard and looked at the group. Everyone was tense and then the guild official continued his speech. "Usually upon a flood happening at a sealed dungeon we have to go through the bureaucratic chain of assessing the danger level and getting permission to enter, however we do have one who is ignorant to this information in our presence. And even a few close to him who would rush into unknown danger to try to protect him." The gaze given shifted from Zain to those closest to him and stopped just short of the royal knights, the one at the end of the knight's kind of giving a nervous aura about them.

Zain finally spoke after a moment of strange tension. "If I am picking up what you are implying correctly, all I will say is two days midday if I am alone, I will take it I did not understand what was just said and return home. Until then, I have preparations to be made in such an event I did in fact interpret that correctly." Zain then quickly turned and walked away as the guild official was standing there.

As Zain reached the wooded surroundings the guild official looked at the three known as flood suppressors. "You three sure did raise a smart one, go get rest and prepare yourselves." As they darted back to the town not even looking above their shoulders, the official spoke again. "Sophia, I cannot command you as you are a royal knight, however knowing that young man is of interest to you if you happen to disappear in two days with your armor in your room by all accounts you were with me the entire time." They started walking back to town as the other two knights nodded in agreement with the statement.

With the sun cresting the horizon and all members of the observatory team heading back to town, all with different paths, they knew what was to come in a day and a half.
