Chapter 64: The Four Mahjong Tiles

Under the dim night sky, Zhou Li contemplated with a pensive look, and so did Tang Wan. The air between them was filled with an aura of wisdom. After a long while, Zhou Li raised his head and said softly,

"Do you think eunuchs really get both their balls cut off?"

"I think they should be cut off."

Tang Wan nodded, speaking gravely, "If not, they might still retain some functionality. Have you heard of Lao Ai?"

"The one who spins wheels?"

"Right, I suspect he's a prime example of one who wasn't cut cleanly. He must have lost his suspension but found a way to restore it and continued using it."

"So, do you think it's the suspension controlling the balls, or the balls controlling the suspension?"

This question, akin to one of the three great philosophical inquiries of life, stumped Tang Wan. After a lengthy silence, Tang Wan lifted his head and said with sorrow,

"Yeah, do my balls control my suspension, or does my suspension control my balls?"
