Time had once stood still here; but now, the hands on the clock face were moving forward again, signifying that the girl living here was embarking on a brand new life.


Zhu Qingyue squatted in front of the wardrobe, rummaging through boxes, pulling out all her favorite clothes that she'd recently bought and piling them on the bed. Then she tried each piece on in front of the floor-standing mirror, holding the clothes up against herself. Sometimes she twirled on the spot on tiptoes, sometimes she swiveled her hips, striking various exaggerated poses, but she never felt quite satisfied with any choice.


Finally, the girl stuffed all the tried-on clothes into a large suitcase beside her, including several sets of brand-new lingerie.
