Sun Jack, as a Cleaning Robot, still worked diligently. Over time, the once-new model of Sun Jack gradually became outdated.
Recently, he found that his young master frequently took him apart to upgrade him, raising his intelligence level from N1 to N2, and opening up all his permissions.
Sun Jack didn't need to know why; he only had to follow his master's commands. Another Mid-Autumn Festival arrived, and the family sat in the yard eating moon viewing dumplings, admiring Earth hanging in the sky.
Every person had a smile on their face as they watched the children play around Sun Jack, as if they were truly a warm family.
Sun Jack's metallic body also had some crayon graffiti on it, which made him look particularly comical; every child in the household liked this temper-less robot.
Even though they were all his users, Sun Jack was always more patient with the little girl.
As the sound of breaking ceramics filled the air, the room instantly fell silent, and the atmosphere from moments before abruptly ceased. The smiles froze on everyone's faces as they turned, frightened and unsettled, to look at Suzuki.
"It's just a bowl; continue." With that remark, Suzuki resumed the lively ambiance.
Suzuki looked at everything in front of him, at the Empire he oversaw, and smiled contentedly.
At that moment, Muzi's child brought over a cup of liquor with a smile. Suzuki reached out to take it, holding the now-grown child and dabbing a few drops into his mouth.
Years had passed, and Muzi's child had grown up, with beautiful features that promised future beauty.
Witnessing the child scrunch up those pretty features because of the spice, he suddenly burst into laughter, slapping his thigh, and everyone else quickly joined in with joyous laughter.
Jian Tai, too, laughed as he patted Sun Jack's head, but only Sun Jack knew that the young master's hand on his head was gradually tightening into a fist. "Endure, just endure a bit longer!"
That night, Suzuki drank a lot and returned to his room. The women hadn't slept yet; they were all waiting for his favor.
Finally, Suzuki's voice lazily rang out, "Bring Yu'ai to me."
At these words, everyone's pupils constricted. They turned to look at the thin girl beside them. Muzi went insane, struggling desperately to reach her daughter, but she was firmly blocked by others.
In despair, she looked to her brother beside her, "Jian Tai! Jian Tai!! I beg you, save my daughter!!"
Jian Tai started breathing rapidly; he looked at his sister and then at the child being dragged away, "It's not time yet... we have to endure! We must endure!!"
Meanwhile, Sun Jack, who had seen everything, appeared to have an epiphany, his system began issuing warning alerts, and his logic module reported errors.
In the room, Suzuki watched as four pairs of hands pushed Yu'ai into the room from outside. He looked the girl up and down. "You've grown so much already, haven't you? Come here and let daddy measure your height."
He knew she wasn't his child, which left him with no sense of guilt.
Yu'ai, uneasy, walked over, feeling Suzuki's hands on her shoulder, "Don't be afraid, close your eyes. I'm your daddy after all, how could daddy hurt you, darling?"
A click sounded—the room's light went out, but in the next second, the door was pushed open.
Suzuki, who had just started undressing, had a confident smile, "Jian Tai? You couldn't stand it anymore, huh? You think you've hidden it well, but I've known all along."
But as he turned, he was shocked to find the Cleaning Robot hovering at the doorway. Suzuki was initially disappointed, looking around, he realized it must have been activated by the spilled liquor on the floor.
"What a disappointment; I thought a new male would challenge the old lion king, but turns out it's like this."
As he turned back towards Yu'ai, he saw the robot blocking his path.
"Get out of the way, don't show up in front of me today." Suzuki pushed it away, impatient.
But just as his hand was about to touch Yu'ai, Sun Jack's mechanical arm grasped his hand tightly.
"Huh?" Suzuki, surprised by the scene before him, turned his head with a smile, "Jian Tai? Did you do this?"
But what he saw was a young boy, trembling and cowering on the floor like an ostrich burying its head in the sand, fear almost completely drowning his heart. "No! It wasn't me! I didn't do it!!"
Suzuki burst out laughing, now certain that he had completely domesticated the boy, no matter how much he speculated about rebelling, in his heart, he was on the verge of being castrated by his own fright.
Suzuki turned to disable the Cleaning Robot, then leaned down toward Yu'ai, determined to fully castrate the youth that day.
But just as he was about to act, a mechanical arm firmly grasped his neck.
"What?! Impossible?" Suzuki struggled, turning his head in disbelief, only to be shocked to find that the supposed-to-be-disabled Cleaning Robot had rebooted.
Suzuki tried to fight back, but flesh and blood obviously couldn't compete with the steel robot. As Sun Jack kept elevating him, he was lifted off the ground, the once blue indicator lights all switching to red.
"No... impossible... you can't kill people!" Suzuki struggled to speak, his face turning purple from the effort.
He had considered many things, using everything at his disposal to control everyone, but he never imagined, after all these years, that it would be this Cleaning Robot that would suddenly strike.
A cold, mechanical voice sounded from within Sun Jack's body, "I didn't kill anyone. As a sweeping robot, I am here to clean up trash. Whatever is trash must be cleansed."
"And you, Suzuki. Chen. Ambert, according to current mainstream social cognizance, you… are…trash!"
This scene stunned everyone present; no one could react.
Finally, after Suzuki desperately waved his hands, the others snapped out of it and hurried over to try to save him from Sun Jack's grasp.
But the next second, Sun Jack pounced again.
By the time Sun Jack was forcefully pulled away, his mechanical hand had already violently ripped away a piece of flesh from Suzuki's neck,
Blood spurted quickly from Suzuki's neck. He was about to say something, but his body went limp and he collapsed on the spot, unable to speak another word.
When Suzuki died, it was as if the entire machine had lost its most vital component. Everyone was frozen in place for a moment, panic-stricken and unsure of what to do.
Finally, after about fifteen minutes, under Jian Tai's direction, the others carried Suzuki's body out to the yard and buried it just as they had with other deceased in the past.
Jian Tai stood numbly in front of the mound of earth, thinking for a long while before he turned his head and approached Sun Jack, who had re-entered its cleaning mode.
"Go, just go. The further away from here, the better. Go live your own life! Go!!"
Sun Jack expressed confusion. "Master, what did I do wrong? Why must I go? Is it wrong for me to clean up trash?"
"No, you did nothing wrong. But this can't be discovered by others. Hurry and go."
"My command is to clean all the trash inside the house. If you wish to modify the command, master, please set the next target."
"Go! Go clean the trash outside, make the whole world spotless. Don't ever come back!"
"Master, what about you?"
Jian Tai shook his head painfully, staggeringly turned around, and lay down where Suzuki would often lay, "I've already... can't leave, I've been assimilated by him…"
The others, witnessing this, seemed to have their critical component repaired and continued functioning.
Those massaging legs continued, those serving tea carried on, as if life could remain unchanged, everything was manageable.
After receiving the new instructions, Sun Jack turned and left. But as he reached the door, a little hand caught his, it was Yu'ai, her eyes full of reluctance. "Please don't go, my good friend."
At that moment, a larger hand gently pushed Yu'ai from behind, pushing her into Sun Jack's embrace.
That was Muzi, she glanced back at Jian Tai, who had started drinking, and spoke tearfully to Sun Jack, "Take her with you, please protect her for me, take her as far away as possible!!"
"Mommy?" Yu'ai's eyes were filled with anxiety and despair.
"Yu'ai, listen to mommy. Never come back here! I don't deserve to be your mother!! Go! Leave this place! Forget about everything here!! Forget your own name! Go live a normal life!!"
Amidst Muzi's strained scolding, a tearful Yu'ai was led away by Sun Jack.
The two had never stepped outside the house, and upon reaching the bustling streets, they both stood frozen in place.
The intense anxiety made Yu'ai want to go back home, to see her father again, but Sun Jack held onto her, not letting her retrace her steps.
"Lan Meng, what should we do now?"
"Your mother has renounced your custody, according to the current Moon legal system, you will be automatically taken in by the welfare institution in 2 hours."
"I… am scared… I don't want to separate from you."
"Don't worry. I will protect you; that's the new directive I have received. I will keep executing it. However, your guardian has withdrawn your naming rights, so first, you need a new name."
"What will my name be?" Yu'ai asked nervously.
"You can take my name." Sun Jack replied, his lenses focusing on the little girl with the anxious face.
"From now on, I revert to my original code, Omega 31, and from this moment, you will call yourself Lan Meng."
