The Recruit Again

Racing across Limgrave, Kaylo looked like he was in a rush. "I forgot about that damn knight!!" He reached the campsite of the knights near the first Stormveil Gates. But something was off. He stopped immediately. Amongst the campsite were bodies scattered everywhere. The shielded knight laid on the floor with blood pouring out of its torso. The other knights occupying the area rebranded the color of their surroundings with their own blood.

"What happened here? I don't remember murking this many people. I didn't even come here!" Suddenly, he's reminded again that the knight was here. He jets pass the campsite to head to the gate and saw blood on the wall.

"Oh....you're here...heheheh." the small chuckle from a dying man caused a terrible cough to ensue. "Koff!! Koff!! Koff!!" He held his hand on his rib. Blood changed the color of his armor and cloth, engulfing it in its maroon appearance.

"Woah, woah, woah!!" He lowers himself onto one knee. "Your rib...."

"Some Tarnished....made his way to the forest and...vanquished our troops....I pleaded to him not to...." Blood is shot up his esophagus causing him to cough up the blood out of his mouth.

"It's okay.... Don't push yourself man. I'll find some herbs, get you back on your feet in no time." As Kaylo turned, the man grabbed a hold of his wrist. "No.....I am done for....I only wish for thee to find Irene....my wife...she lives in a shack in the....Stormveil territory beyond this gate....promise me.... you'll inform her of my passing....."

"...I will.....I'll tell her..."

"I....wanted to follow your path....to become Elden Lord...." With the rest of his strength, his sword was ripped from his side. With blood soaking the sheathe, he extends his arm to Kaylo.

"So I swear...my ashes will stay with you.....to keep my promise...." As soon as Kaylo gripped the sword, the man's hand fell to his side. Life fades from his eyes as he leaves the corporeal plane. Seeing such a humane guy due before him, tore him apart. It was the first time he's ever seen someone like him due. The guilt he felt was immense.

"If only I was here...you only died because I made a promise I didn't keep...." Bare handed his body along with many others were bury next to their campsite. Carving the troop and location into a rock for each of them.

"Are these the type of guys I have been killing all this time?" Silence bewitched his being. A tab that appeared after the Knight's death informed him of something nice yet depressing. It was that he gained the Spirit Ashes of the one named Gunne. The man that pledged his loyalty to Kaylo.

"Alright Gunne, it's time to leave." The night sky was brimming with stars. Beautiful and dazzling as it should always be. And yet in between every star lurked darkness across space.
