Chapter 34: Wu Zhiming's Bodyguard

"Didn't I tell you not to provoke your sister-in-law?!" Wu Zhiming pushed Wu Mengjie into his office, expressing his dissatisfaction.

"Tsk, how did I provoke her?" Wu Mengjie scoffed, walking over to Wu Zhiming's chair. She sat down, spun around once, and said, "I've always wanted to sit in this boss chair, but Dad wouldn't let me. Later, when Wu Zhixing took over, I had no chance. I never thought I'd finally get to sit in it today. This feels so satisfying!"

"You know your sister-in-law is a career-driven woman, and she's only twenty-four this year. Asking her to have a child is putting her in a tough spot," Wu Zhiming explained.

"Tough? She's been married to you for four years! Four years is enough time to have a child, even a mythical one like Nezha! Brother, don't think I don't know. Your wife doesn't like you, let alone love you. She married you just to climb the Wu family's social ladder. I despise people like that the most," Wu Mengjie said with disdain.

"You can say that about anyone else in the Yao family, but you can't say that about your sister-in-law. This is the first and the last time," Wu Zhiming said seriously.

"But you don't love her either! Why are you defending her?" Wu Mengjie asked, frowning.

"For the past four years, I've been a pushover, a doormat, in both the Yao and Wu families. Everyone trampled on me. But there's one person who never humiliated me or looked down on me, and that person is your sister-in-law," Wu Zhiming replied.

"That's just because she ignored you!" Wu Mengjie retorted.

"In these four years, she has done everything a wife should do. She has been as good as anyone could be to me. So, I reciprocate. It's not about love; it's mutual respect between two unfortunate souls," Wu Zhiming smiled.

"Doing what a wife should do? Then why don't you have kids yet? Isn't that also something a wife should do? Don't tell me you haven't even slept with her?" Wu Mengjie questioned.

"Uh?" Wu Zhiming was taken aback, staring at Wu Mengjie. Could it be that his sister has some sort of clairvoyant ability, knowing everything?

"I'm a psychology student. A career-driven woman like Yao Jing won't give her body to a man unless she truly loves him. Brother, I'm really worried about one thing," Wu Mengjie said, concerned.

"What are you worried about?" Wu Zhiming asked.

"I'm afraid that sister-in-law will cheat on you," Wu Mengjie said earnestly.

"Uh…" Wu Zhiming was speechless.

"Think about it. Sister-in-law is twenty-four, beautiful, and naturally has many handsome, wealthy, and successful men vying for her attention. Just because you don't see them doesn't mean they don't exist. I'm a woman, and I understand women better than you do. If one of these men happens to be her type and is persistent, she might find in them the marital life she doesn't get from you. This is called 'behavioral compensation' in psychology…"

"Shut up." Wu Zhiming covered Wu Mengjie's mouth and scolded, "You really don't want to see your brother happy, do you? Your brother has such a strong personality and charm that even if your sister-in-law doesn't love me, she wouldn't look for someone else behind my back. I'm completely confident in her."

"Tsk, the more confident a man is, the more likely his wife is to cheat!" Wu Mengjie retorted.

"Alright, enough. I've had your room at the old house prepared. Go there now; I have work to do," Wu Zhiming said.

"See? You're anxious too, which is why you're eager to send me away. In psychology, this is called…" Wu Mengjie began.

"I don't care what it's called in psychology. All I know is that in real life, your behavior is just asking for trouble. Now go, hurry!" Wu Zhiming said, pulling Wu Mengjie out of the meeting room.

Finally, Wu Zhiming managed to put Wu Mengjie in the car heading to the Wu family's old residence.

Wu Mengjie was good in many ways, but she had a loose tongue. She always thought Yao Jing was not worthy of Wu Zhiming, just as Song Siqing thought Wu Zhiming wasn't worthy of Yao Jing. Because of this, Wu Mengjie harbored hostility towards Yao Jing. Wu Zhiming had hoped that after a few years abroad, she would change, but it seemed she hadn't changed at all.

### Chapter 34: Wu Zhiming's Bodyguards

After seeing Wu Mengjie off, Wu Zhiming finally felt a sense of relief. He composed himself before heading to Yao Jing's office.

"You went to the airport to pick up Mengjie today, right?" Yao Jing asked casually, typing away at her computer.

"Yeah, that's her usual temperament. Don't take it to heart," Wu Zhiming replied with a smile.

"She's still a young girl," Yao Jing said, closing her laptop. She stood up and added, "Come on, let's go to the HR department downstairs."

"What for?" Wu Zhiming asked, curious.

"We're getting you some bodyguards. They've just arrived," Yao Jing explained as she headed out the door.

"Bodyguards…" Wu Zhiming chuckled as he followed her.

The HR department was located on the eighth floor. Wu Zhiming and Yao Jing made their way to the conference room there.

"Minister Zhou, please bring them in," Yao Jing instructed Zhou Wangrong, the HR Manager.

"Sure thing!" Zhou Wangrong nodded and stepped out of the conference room.

"What's the deal with these bodyguards?" Wu Zhiming asked.

"They're from Golden Shield Security Company. According to their general manager, each one of them is a top-tier operative," Yao Jing explained.

"Top-tier operatives? Aren't those guys all becoming live-in sons-in-law in some novels?" Wu Zhiming joked.

Yao Jing paused, puzzled, "Is that some kind of internet joke?"

"Nothing, just something I said off the cuff," Wu Zhiming laughed, realizing Yao Jing wasn't much into online novels.

"Golden Shield is considered quite reputable in the security industry. Their personnel should be of high quality," Yao Jing assured him.

"We'll see soon enough," Wu Zhiming replied.

Shortly after, the door to the conference room opened. Zhou Wangrong entered first, followed by a thin man in a blue suit. Behind him were several burly men in black suits and sunglasses, looking like they stepped out of a Terminator movie. To Wu Zhiming's surprise, there was also a petite woman among them.

She was dressed in a tailored women's suit, had short hair, and wore sunglasses that obscured her eyes, though her high-bridged nose suggested she was quite attractive.

"Mr. Wu, Ms. Yao! Nice to meet you!" The thin man in the blue suit greeted them with a professional smile.

"This is Mr. Li, the general manager of Golden Shield Security Company," Yao Jing introduced him.

"Hello," Wu Zhiming nodded in acknowledgment.

"These are our elite bodyguards. Each one has extensive professional training and experience. Hiring any one of them will ensure comprehensive protection for you," Mr. Li explained confidently.

"Pick one for yourself," Yao Jing suggested to Wu Zhiming.

"What about that woman?" Wu Zhiming asked, pointing to the petite female guard.

"It's up to you!" Yao Jing said.

"Mr. Wu, you have a keen eye. This is Li Sina, a newcomer to our company. Despite being new, her individual combat skills are top-notch. Moreover, being a woman, she draws less attention and has a higher capacity for stealth compared to male bodyguards," Mr. Li elaborated.

"I was just kidding. Choosing someone to safeguard my life isn't something to be taken lightly," Wu Zhiming said. He then turned to Mr. Li and asked, "How much are they paid?"

"They are premium personal bodyguards, with a monthly salary of 100,000 yuan," Mr. Li stated.

"100,000 yuan a month? I'll offer 200,000 yuan. Have them fight each other, and I'll pick whoever's left standing!" Wu Zhiming declared.

His proposition stunned Mr. Li for a moment, but then he smiled and turned to the bodyguards, saying, "You heard Mr. Wu. He's not stingy and wants the best of you. Let's see a fight, and the winner gets the job!"

As soon as Mr. Li finished speaking, the female bodyguard, Li Sina, immediately turned and landed a straight punch into the abdomen of the burly man next to her.

---

**Bang!**

With a muffled thud, the burly man's face turned pale, and he spat out a mouthful of blood before being sent flying backward. But Li Sina wasn't done yet. She sprang off the ground, her body launching into the air, and delivered a swift roundhouse kick towards another burly man nearby.

This man reacted quickly, raising one arm to block.

**Smack!**

Li Sina's kick met the man's hand, and he successfully parried it. Just as everyone thought Li Sina might be overpowered, she pivoted sharply and sent a powerful straight punch towards the man's face.

Her fist shot out like a bullet, striking the man square on the nose.

**Crack!**

The sound of breaking bone was audible as the man's nose fractured, and he staggered backward, collapsing to the floor.

In mere moments, two of the four male bodyguards were down.

"Li Sina, you've gone too far!" one of the remaining bodyguards shouted angrily, charging at her, while the other followed closely behind, apparently planning to take her on two against one.

Li Sina showed no fear. As the two men closed in, she deftly maneuvered behind the man whose nose she had just broken, using him as a shield. This move forced the other two attackers to adjust their positions, sidestepping to avoid their fallen comrade.

Taking advantage of this split-second opening, Li Sina darted forward towards one of them. She unleashed a barrage of swift and precise punches.

The man struggled to defend himself against her relentless attack. Within seconds, he was struck multiple times and stumbled backward, eventually slumping against the wall, pale and unable to move.

Li Sina paused and turned her icy gaze to the last remaining bodyguard.

"Just you left," she said, her voice cold and devoid of emotion.

The last man standing grimaced, his fists clenched tightly. With a roar, he charged at Li Sina.

She took a moment to steady her breath and raised her hands in the opening stance of Wing Chun.

In the blink of an eye, the bodyguard was upon her. Li Sina smirked, and in a fluid motion, she reached to her waist, pulling out a small baton. With a swift flick, she thrust it forward.

**Crack! Crack! Crack!**

A flash of electricity surged through the baton, and the last bodyguard crumpled to the ground, incapacitated.

In less than thirty seconds, all four male bodyguards were down. Only Li Sina remained standing.

"It's you!" Wu Zhiming declared with a smile.
