Chapter 4: "Unexpected Situation"

I glared at Taehyung, still frustrated from our earlier exchange. "Just sit down and stop asking so many questions, okay?"

He pouted but complied, flopping onto the makeshift bed in the corner of the hideout. I returned to my vigil by the window, keeping watch for any signs of danger outside.

The silence between us was tense, but I didn't bother breaking it. I had more important things to worry about, like our survival. As the hours dragged on, Taehyung's constant fidgeting began to grate on my nerves. "Can you please just sit still for once?" I snapped.

He looked up at me with an innocent expression. "I'm just trying to help, Y/n. I want to learn how to survive like you."

I raised an eyebrow. "You think you can learn survival skills from me?"

Taehyung nodded eagerly. "Yeah! You're so smart and resourceful. I want to be like you when I grow up."

I rolled my eyes, despite a small part of me being flattered by his admiration. "You're not going to grow up if you keep getting us into trouble, Taehyung."

He looked crestfallen, but I didn't have time to coddle his feelings. I had to keep us safe, no matter what.

As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the abandoned streets, I noticed something peculiar. The infected seemed to be gathering outside, their moans growing louder and more urgent.

"Taehyung, get down!" I hissed, pulling him off the bed and onto the floor.

We huddled together, listening as the infected pounded against the door, their relentless assault making the wooden frame creak and groan.

"What do we do, Y/n?" Taehyung whispered, his eyes wide with fear.

I thought quickly, scanning our surroundings for any possible escape routes or weapons. That's when I spotted it – a small, rusty pipe in the corner of the room.

"Take this," I said, handing Taehyung the pipe. "If anything gets in, use it to defend yourself."

He nodded, his grip on the pipe tightening as the infected continued their assault.

I knew we couldn't stay here forever. We needed a plan, and fast. But for now, we were trapped, waiting for the inevitable.
