Chapter 9: "Burn It All Down"

As we fought our way through the compound, our goal became clear: destroy the source of the zombie outbreak. The building housing the experiment was our target.

Taehyung's eyes gleamed with determination. "Let's burn it all down, Y/N!"

I nodded, my sword at the ready. "Together, we'll end this chaos."

We charged towards the building, our weapons slicing through the zombies in our path. The flames from our earlier escape attempt still licked at the walls, but we needed to make sure the building was reduced to ashes.

With a fierce cry, we burst into the building, our weapons raised. The zombies inside were caught off guard, and we took advantage of the element of surprise.

Taehyung's bat swung in wide arcs, while my sword sliced through the air, leaving a trail of destruction in our wake. We fought our way deeper into the building, the sound of groaning zombies and crashing equipment filling the air.

Finally, we reached the heart of the experiment: a massive lab filled with vials, test tubes, and strange machinery. Taehyung's eyes locked onto the main control panel.

"That's our target," he said, his voice low and determined. "Let's take it down... together!"

The fate of the city hung in the balance, and we were the only ones who could save it.

We charged forward, our weapons ready to strike. But the zombies were too strong, and we found ourselves backed into a corner. Taehyung's bat was stuck in a zombie's shoulder, and my sword was lodged in another's chest.

"We need to work together, Taehyung!" I shouted.

Taehyung nodded, and together we used our weapons to take down the zombies, one by one. Finally, we reached the control panel.

With a nod, we brought our weapons down, smashing the control panel to pieces. The machinery around us groaned and sputtered, before exploding in a shower of sparks. The building shook, and the flames outside seemed to grow higher.

As the control panel exploded, the building began to shake and tremble. Taehyung and I stumbled backwards, our ears ringing from the blast. Suddenly, the floor beneath us gave way, and we plummeted into darkness.

"Taehyung!" I screamed, my voice echoing off the walls.

"Y/N!" Taehyung's voice was faint, distant. "I'm here... I think..."

I struggled to my feet, my sword still clutched in my hand. "Taehyung, where are you?"

There was no answer.

And then, I heard it. The sound of footsteps, echoing through the darkness. Heavy, deliberate footsteps.

Coming closer.
