Innocence proves nothing

I walked up to Jie Xun and cut her free of the bench.

"What do you mean, Junior Sister?"

She pushed herself upright and glared into the crowd of gathered disciples with her unusual mismatched eyes. Since there were only about two dozen of them (most disciples have gone to the war front), it was easy to see whom she was looking at—a middle-aged Qi Foundation man unfamiliar to me.

"I didn't steal from Master Lin Tan. Senior Brother Chen Chou put a stolen jade pendant in my room and then pointed a finger at me! Everybody believed him, because he has been Master Lin's close disciple for many years."

Really? This sort of drama sounded like something I'd rather delegate to whoever will take Lin Tan's position in the future.

"And that sick dog only did it because I rejected him!" Jie Xun shouted with outrage. "He tried to get his paws on me like I'm some bitch from a brothel, not his martial sister!"

Chen Chou gasped with outrage.
