Silver Sage's instructions were clear enough that finding the tree didn't take too long. Its bright Qi was visible from a long distance away, like a golden beacon of hope and destiny.
Just the sight of it made my fingers shake with anticipation and dread. What if that didn't work? What if it did?
My life won't ever be the same.
The lonely tree, twenty meters tall and several meters wide, grew on top of a mountain blown on by a dozen winds. One of the winds carried with it a strong flow of Qi, maybe the kind that went all the way from the desert.
The roots of the tree went deep into the soil, sucking all the other life out of it. There wasn't a single other plant on the mountain. There weren't any animals or birds, either.
"What a suspicious place," I muttered, flying toward the tree. "It looks like even insects don't want to try these fruits."
