Part 60: Terrified Zombies

Our experiments with the vaccine had yielded no positive results—the zombies could not be reverted to their human form. However, something peculiar and unexpectedly beneficial occurred: the zombies seemed terrified of us. As we approached them, they would scatter, fleeing to other areas. It was a small victory amidst our many setbacks, but it meant we could move more freely and work with less immediate danger.

I observed their behavior with fascination. "Sarah, look at this. It’s like they’re warning each other about us."

Sarah nodded, her eyes narrowing in thought. "It’s almost like they’re communicating. Maybe the vaccine has some effect we didn’t anticipate."

Encouraged by this small breakthrough, I proposed one more experiment to complete our practical tests. "Sarah, we need to try the vaccine on animals. If it works on them, it might give us a clue about its true capabilities."
