"Good thing it's a Hunter, not a Tyrant." Seeing the green monster emerge from the metal container, Daniel Davis couldn't help but feel relieved.
Hunters, a type of BOW (Bio-Organic Weapon) developed by Umbrella Corporation, resemble oversized frogs with sharp claws. They have exceptional attack power, combined with swift movements and tough skin, making them quite formidable BOWs.
Sending Hunters against them was a clever move by Umbrella, but unfortunately for them, this time they faced Rebecca. In both the Training Facility and the Mansion, Rebecca had already dealt with numerous Hunters.
Umbrella's poor judgment stemmed from their lack of intelligence on Rebecca's previous encounters with BOWs. This information was held by Wesker, and William knew some as well. However, one had betrayed them, and the other had mutated, leaving Umbrella without this crucial intel.
The Hunter was swiftly defeated by Rebecca and Daniel's combined attack. The power of the Barrett sniper rifle was too much for even a Hunter to withstand.
In the Resident Evil series, Hunters have never played a significant role, especially against heavily armed individuals.
Even Tyrants, which are stronger than Hunters, can't withstand heavy firepower. The only advantage Tyrants have over Hunters is their ability to wield modern weapons like rocket launchers and Gatling guns. This makes Tyrants truly fearsome BOWs.
Ordinary people, except for someone like Captain America, can't handle a Gatling gun alone. A Tyrant equipped with one, however, is a force to be reckoned with.
In this operation, Umbrella had deployed six Hunters and four Tyrants. The Hunters, besides killing some survivors, were quickly eliminated.
The Tyrants, on the other hand, caused significant casualties to both the US military and Umbrella's strike team.
One of the Tyrants had gone rogue, attacking anything in sight after being hit by random gunfire from the military.
"I wonder what enemy we'll face next. I'll go out to find some weapons. You stay here and keep guard." After taking down the Tyrant, Daniel spoke to Rebecca after a moment of silence.
"You be careful." Rebecca didn't want Daniel to take the risk, considering he was still a minor. But given the current situation and Daniel's displayed abilities, she knew there was no time for hesitation.
"I'll be back soon." Zombies, Hunters, zombie dogs—all these could be dealt with using their current weapons. But if another Tyrant appeared, it would be dangerous.
The best weapon against a Tyrant is a rocket launcher.
Driving the milk truck they had used earlier, Daniel headed toward Raccoon City. Jill had left earlier on Chris's motorcycle.
"Driving into Raccoon City at night during a biohazard outbreak, I must be crazy." Daniel thought as he saw numerous cars, some still burning, blocking the road ahead due to a traffic accident. He had to stop the truck.
In the USA, where the land is vast and cars are abundant, some kids Daniel's age already had their own cars. After taking a deep breath, Daniel got out of the truck and proceeded on foot towards Raccoon City.
Along the way, he avoided the scattered zombies. Although he wasn't entirely sure how zombies identified their targets, he knew from his research that smell and hearing were key. Firing his gun carelessly would only attract more zombies.
"Who would have thought that someone who didn't dare fight zombies in games would have to face them in real life?" Daniel mocked himself as he hurried along.
Daniel was fully covered except for his hands. He couldn't help but admire Ada Wong, who dared to run around Raccoon City in a sleeveless dress.
However, this time Daniel was wrong. The game was just a game; for effect, the clothes were designed that way. In reality, Ada Wong wasn't foolish and wouldn't dress like that.
Just look at Jill—she was now wearing S.T.A.R.S. combat gear.
"Hope I find some weapons." Daniel's goal was to find a rocket launcher. The police station was not his target, as it was the most dangerous place with Umbrella's lab beneath it, filled not only with Hunters but also Lickers.
In direct combat, Hunters are deadly, but in terms of ambush, Lickers are even deadlier, especially in an urban environment. The police were wiped out not by zombies but by Lickers. Daniel had no intention of fighting Lickers now.
Venturing into Raccoon City to find weapons was already a huge risk, both for his own safety and for Rebecca and the other kids.
Daniel's goal was to find weapons dropped by Umbrella or the US military.
In real battles, there is no unlimited ammo. Likewise, the amount of weapons and ammo one can carry is limited. Therefore, resupply via airdrops was essential.
Similarly, Tyrants also needed resupply. This was Daniel's reasoning for entering the city.
"All guns." Daniel quickly found a supply crate. It was easy to find because it was conspicuous, glowing in the dark.
Most of Raccoon City's power was out, and in the pitch-black environment, zombies had a significant advantage over humans. This was part of Umbrella's strategy: destroy the power plant and let zombies eliminate the survivors.
Fortunately, fires raging throughout the city provided some light.
"I need a rocket launcher." After resupplying some ammo, Daniel continued searching for other supply crates.
Persistence paid off. Daniel finally found a crate containing a rocket launcher and three rockets. Including the one in the launcher, he had four rockets.
"This should be enough." With the weapon in hand, Daniel decided not to take any more risks. Although he was curious about the lab beneath the police station and suspected Sherry might be there, he didn't want to face G-William directly.
That guy seemed immortal, capable of continuous transformations. If Raccoon City hadn't been nuked, he might still be alive.
Fortunately, Daniel's body had been enhanced by the T-virus, greatly increasing his strength. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to carry the rocket launcher.
Boom.
As Daniel was about to leave, a loud explosion came from the distance, followed by continuous gunfire and a roar that sounded like an animal.
"You've got to be kidding me. Does Umbrella have something like this?" By the light of the fire, Daniel could vaguely see what it was.
A three-meter-tall, five-meter-long zombie dinosaur.
Facing this zombie dinosaur, Umbrella's strike team and the US military seemed to have joined forces, attacking it together.
"Is this a Marvel world enhancement?" With this thought, Daniel immediately sped up his departure.
