When you're curious about a man, you should be careful.

Gibson pointed towards the treetops across the street. "There are two people up there, using binoculars to watch us."

"Are you crazy? They're over a hundred meters away, and it's so dark out there without a single streetlight. How can you see them?" Sonia retorted, clearly skeptical.

"Just zoom in with your phone," he suggested.

Most phones have a twelve-megapixel camera that can zoom in up to forty times. Sure enough, when Sonia zoomed in, she couldn't see clearly, but she could make out two white dots reflecting light in the trees.

This proved he could see things over a hundred meters away, even in the dark. It was a chilling realization. Who knows how long she and Gabrielle had been spied on before Gibson arrived? They had hired numerous private investigators to no avail. Yet in just two days, Gibson had already flushed out the watchers.

"Who are you really? And why are you so skilled?" Sonia asked, her face showing a mix of fear and amazement.

"I'm just a guy who recently got out of prison. Didn't you have someone investigate me? Didn't they find anything?" Gibson turned his head slightly, smiling coldly.

The icy edge to his smile sent a shiver down Sonia's spine. He knew everything all along! Usually, he seemed harmless and playful, but in this moment, Sonia felt trapped, as if she couldn't escape his grasp.

Gibson shrugged and returned to his usual calm demeanor. "Honestly, your Juarez family is the only job in my career where I've lost money."

"So, you're the genius who mysteriously vanished from Starfall City all those years ago?" Sonia asked seriously. "What did you do to end up in prison?"

Gibson typically disliked talking about his past, but this time, he didn't get angry. Instead, he put an arm around Sonia's shoulders, leaned close to her ear, and whispered, "When you're curious about a man, you should be careful. There's a good chance you've already fallen for him."

"That's nonsense! Impossible!"

"You're doing great, though. You've held out for two days, which is better than most women."

"I haven't! "

"..."

Just then, Gabrielle came down from upstairs.

"Sonia, why is your face all red?"

...

In a high-rise building in Starfall City, a young man slammed his cup onto the floor.

"Idiots! A bunch of useless idiots!"

"So many of you, and you let one guy beat you all up? It's embarrassing to be associated with you!"

"The prey was right there, and you let it get away. You're all worthless!"

The young man fuming with anger was none other than Samuel, the mastermind behind the evening's attempt on Sonia.

Samuel wasn't after some secret to immortality; his target was an antibiotic developed by the Wind Group, a drug capable of inhibiting the spread of cancer cells. In all of Starfall City, only the Wind Group had control of this technology. No matter how financially strained they were, this technology alone could revive the Wind Group.

Samuel had offered a billion dollars to buy the patent for this technology, but Sonia had flatly refused. This technology was worth far more than a billion dollars, but the Davis Group's total assets, even including stocks and real estate, didn't amount to the number.

"Boss, these are the latest photos," one of his subordinates said, handing him a phone. The photos showed Gibson inside Sonia's house. One even captured the moment when Gibson whispered something to Sonia, their closeness evident.

From the photos, their behavior seemed quite intimate.

"Damn it, who the hell is this guy?!" Samuel shouted, hurling his phone to the ground in a fit of rage.

"I looked into it. Apparently… he just got out of prison and started working as a security guard at Wind Group. Today was his first day," a subordinate said quietly, holding a folder.

"What?!" Samuel snatched the folder and scanned it quickly. "Damn it! That bitch Sonia! I spent so much money chasing her and she wouldn't give me the time of day, yet she's giving herself away to some ex-con! Is she crazy?"

The insult stung deeply. It felt like pursuing a goddess for years only to have her marry a forty-year-old bachelor from the countryside. The humiliation was unbearable.

"Uh… it seems… she's the one chasing him…" the subordinate added fuel to the fire.

Samuel went on a rampage, smashing everything in sight, a vase worth millions, a gilded glass statue, and even the ornate wall hangings. "I'm going to tear that guy to pieces! Tear him to pieces!

"

At dawn, Gibson was already busy in the kitchen.

He didn't have to make breakfast for Sonia and Gabrielle every day, but he insisted on eating well himself. He enjoyed not just the taste of the food, but the process of making it.

Normally, the two women wouldn't get out of bed until their alarm had gone off three times. But now, they were waking up to the delicious smell coming from the kitchen.

"Damn! What's he making this time?" Gabrielle asked, leaning over the railing on the second floor and taking a deep breath. "Is that seafood?!"

Even Sonia, who was used to gourmet meals, was impressed by the aroma so early in the morning.

Gibson emerged from the kitchen with a giant king crab, each leg smothered in a special sauce.

"Seriously, who makes breakfast like this? King crab in the morning?!" The crab, fully spread out, was a meter and a half long!

"You're really pulling out all the stops to impress us!" Gabrielle said as she hurried to the dining table, finally understanding the meaning of "mouth-watering."

"You're overthinking it," Gibson replied, placing the king crab in front of himself. "This is my breakfast. I made yours too; it's over here."

"Let me see!" Gabrielle said excitedly.

Gibson brought out two bowls of plain noodles.

Meanwhile, he feasted on sea urchin dumplings and king crab legs—a meal fit for royalty.

"You get to eat like this and we just get noodles?" Sonia exclaimed in surprise.

"Sorry, but I'm just an ordinary security guard," Gibson said, shrugging with a look of helplessness.

Ordinary security guard? Ha! That term could apply to anyone but him! The cost of that king crab alone was probably equivalent to a few months of his security guard salary.

As the CEO of a major company, Sonia couldn't believe she was eating worse than he was. This was beyond insulting!
