Hassana was in shock, staring at the field marshal. The unbelievable things with this man is getting much. What's he doing here?!!! Hassana was checking how the delivery of medicine was going on, making sure everything is in order when she was told a certain person called mahmood wanted to see her.
He didn't even wait for her when he barged in on her standing in the open space and immediately apologize for interrupting her.
"You shouldn't be here malam." She said looking at the delivery truck and ticking on an iPad with a light pen.
"I wanted to meet you at home but I didn't get your approval so I decided to meet you at work. At least give me your contact....."
"This is a restricted area bala, why did you let this person here?"
Bala was the security guard that brought him to her and for the life of hers she didn't know how the person persuaded bala to do so. Non medical personnel shouldn't be here where the delivery of war medicines is taking place, least something of a theft should happen, right?
"He kept insisting and begging doc….." began bala.
"Insisting and begging! Are you serious?!!! Just because he insisted and begged then you just allow any….."
"Don't rain down on this poor man doc. It's my fault..." intercepted mahmood.
"Please you can't be here, you should leave!"
"If only you give me your con..."
"What do you want with the contact of the field marshal's fiancée?"
Silent ensued.
The doc is going to marry the field marshal?! How comes no one in the hospital is talking about it? Was she keeping it a secret?!! Thought bala. Mahmood just stared at her.
"My fiancée! Who wants her contact?"
Everyone turn towards the deep, cool voice they heard. The field marshal!!! She's done for. Not only did she refused to give back his badge now she lied about being his fiancée!! What even brought him there? And to make things worse, his badge was in the lab coat she's wearing now.
A loud bang hit her chest and she felt her mouth dried up instantly. She began to shake within but then so did mahmood. What will become of him now that he is caught toasting the field marshal's fiancée not even girlfriend!
"Sir, I'm utterly sorry, I didn't know she's your fiancée, I thought…..never mind. I'll just leave."
Leave! He can't leave just like that! She have to dump this badge somewhere. Where else better than on him right? Look, she knew it's wrong but she can't be caught with it.
Mahmood was closer to her and she quickly slide her hand into her pocket bring out the badge and slide it into his jeans pocket half way in. She quickly moved back to her position staring at the pocket.
Shamsuddeen followed her gaze and stopped. Everyone was busy staring at mahmood's pocket. He too followed their eyes and was surprised to see something popping out of his side pocket. He removed it and stared at it. What!!! The badge of the general of the army, field marshal shamsuddeen!!!! How did it got into his pocket?!!!
"What's that?" pretended hassana.
Slowly, he showed her the badge, looking at the field marshal. Hassana collected the badge and release a surprised shriek.
"Your badge sir! You know he have been looking for this badge since the accident. Why didn't you tell me you have it?" she said looking at mahmood.
"...…" mahmood opened his mouth but words couldn't come out.
"This is mahmood and he was also at the accident scene." She explained to shamsuddeen. "Here is your badge sir, returned to its rightful owner." She said and quickly tossed it towards the field marshal.
The extend to which she wish to reach in this mind games she is playing is even remarkable. Right before his eyes, she placed the badge in the poor man's pocket, accused him of taking it and not telling her and returning it to him as if she wasn't the culprit. Did she actually think he is stupid? Looking at the man she called mahmood, he looked confused, and totally speechless.
Earlier he received a message from hadi that she was at the hospital with the badge. He ordered hadi to back out he will intercept. He wanted to disgrace her life in the hospital and disqualify her from enrolling in the army doctors she so much wanted to be part of, then imprison her for playing with him as if he is her mate.
However, this girl frame the poor man and already everyone saw the badge in his pocket. The situation now is, he can't even arrest her for theft because she have pushed all the blame to an innocent man who just wanted her affection. On top of all that, he suddenly became her fiancée!!! He placed his hands in his side pocket, staring deeply into her lying eyes.
"Here you go si….. sweetheart." She nearly exposed herself by calling him sir.
Oh! So she is willing to continue with her façade, thought shamsuddeen. She is even using this affectionate word towards the field marshal. So it's true then!! Thought bala and other personnel that were presently there.
Collect it now. Why is he just staring at her? She pulled her hand back, smiling at him.
Very well, he will play along with her. Let's see how far she wishes to go with it. He extended his hand and hassana quickly gave him back the badge. She meant to make him suffer before he get it back but it seems she was the one that suffered.
Tucking the badge into his pocket, his eyes landed on mahmood. The latter felt his throat dried.
"Why are you still here?" Said shamsuddeen.
He wouldn't arrest the poor man so he have to let him go. However, mahmood was so grateful and began to thank the field marshal before leaving.
"We need to talk." Shamsuddeen looked at hassana who was trying to escape.
Turning around slowly, hassana smiled and the people standing around turned and left.
"Yes sir."
"So I'm sir now?"
"Okay, I was just trying to send that man away….."
"By using my name!"
"Please sir, don't be mad. I didn't expect you to show up just now."
"If I hadn't, I wouldn't have seen your little trick."
What little trick? Thought hassana in shock. Is he saying that he saw what she did?!! Well, she is in pepper soup!!!
"Wha…what do you mean sir?" her heart quiver.
The fact that he didn't expose her now doesn't mean he wouldn't do it using another way. She will not escape his punishment for sure.
"Report to the octagon tomorrow at seventeen hundred hours." He turn to leave but halted, glancing back. "Don't be late!" he walked away.
