Chapter Nineteen

PERLAR'S POV

I stood there; eyes widened in shock.

"Rodrigo, drop the gun," I pleaded.

"I will if you step away from him," Rodrigo replied.

"Why? Are you afraid Perlah will find out about your evil deed?" Nikolas argued.

"Shut up!" Rodrigo yelled.

"What is he talking about?" I asked, staring at Rodrigo.

"Go on, tell her the truth," Nikolas yelled back.

Rodrigo stood there silently staring at me.

"Do you know about Perlah's family code or not?" Nikolas asked, daring Rodrigo.

"Perlah it's not what you think," Rodrigo said, walking towards me.

"Don't come close to me," I yelled.

"How did you find out about this code and for how long?" I asked, heartbroken.

"Before I saved you," Rodrigo murmured.

"What! You knew about me and the code before you saved me?" I asked, unsure.

"Yes, he answered," facing down.

I smiled in disappointment.

"You saved me from the code?" I blurted out.

"Perlah," Rodrigo called.

"The stupid benefit, it was the code," I murmured, my eyes teary.

"Perlah, that's in the past. Now I love you, I won't hurt you. Never!" Rodrigo pleaded.

"Let's go, sister," Nikolas blunted out.

"Sister?" Rodrigo asked, surprised.

"Surprise, surprise. I guess you didn't know Mr. Andrew had a son. He was smart, that's why he sent me away," Nikolas retorted.

I nodded my head in acceptance.

"Let's go, Nikolas," I called out to him.

We got into Nikolas's car and drove into Nikolas's mansion.

"Here," he said, pointing a paper at me.

"What's this?" I asked.

"DNA result, in case you don't believe me yet," Nikolas warmly replied.

"No, I believe you Nikolas, I was just wondering where you were all along, and why you chose to appear now," I blurted out.

"I was waiting for the right time. Come, there's someone that wants to see you," Nikolas replied and smiled.

I trailed behind him until we walked into a room. A young woman sitting down and playing with a super cute child. Who was, by the way, very cheerful.

"Your wife and child. O my God, they are so cute," I yelled out, rushing towards them.

"No, this is Becky, I employed her as a babysitter, and that is Arcane, my nephew," Nikolas blunted out.

"What do you mean, nephew? And why is his name Arcane?" I asked, bewildered.

"That playful child over there is your son," Nikolas announced.

"You can go now Becky; I will send some money to you. Your job here has come to an end," Nikolas said, facing the babysitter.

I bent down to the level of the child, my eyes welling up in tears.

"Arcane. My child," I whispered, weeping.

Hearing his name, the child looked at me, giggling.

I carried him in my arms, hugging him tightly, unable to stop my tears.

"My son is alive," I murmured in tears.

"Okay, that's enough for a reunion. Carry my nephew, we need to discuss," Nikolas announced and winked.

I carried my son in happiness and matched towards the sitting room alongside Nikolas.

"Wait, were you the one responsible for kidnapping my son all along?" I blurted out, still trying to process all that happened.

"Yes," he replied sharply.

"what! How could you, Nikolas?" I yelled in disappointment.

"If I hadn't, he would have been killed that day," he replied.

"What do you mean?" I asked, confused.

"Rodrigo had enemies because when their father died, he willed all his wealth to him. Arcane here is also in danger because he is Rodrigo's heir. Both Rodrigo and his son are both in danger," Nikolas pointed out.

"So you kidnapped him," I asked in understanding.

"But how do you know all this? Everything about Rodrigo, his brothers, and the code," I asked, perplexed.

"Let's just say, I have my way," he replied and chucked.

"So where and what do we do from here? Now that those who killed our family know that you are also Andrew's son, they will come after you too," I asked, staring at Nikolas.

"I don't know. Sit and wait for their attack I guess," he retorted, smiling.

"Let's drink at our family reunion," he announced, passing me a glass of wine that I gladly accepted.

RODRIGO'S POV.

I sat down lifeless, as Perlah's disappointed face kept popping in my head. I threw the wine glass I was holding to the ground, watching it as it shattered to pieces like my current situation.

"No Perlah, it's not what you think," I muttered, regretting the fact that I could not be courageous myself and tell the truth to Perlah, and she had to hear it from someone else.

My phone suddenly rang out beside me and, guessing it was Perlah, I quickly reached out for my phone but, disappointment burns, it was someone else; someone I didn't want to talk to.

"Why haven't you been picking up my calls, Rodrigo?" My uncle sounded at the other end of the call.

"Uncle Isko, I asked you not to call me," I retorted, pissed.

"And why shouldn't I? We are running out of time, just get the damn code Rodrigo" he replied.

"I told you last time, I won't do it. Plus it's late, Perlah is gone," I blurted out.

"What do you mean gone?" Uncle Isko yelled at the other end of the call.

"A strange guy showed up claiming to be her brother and told her I was after the code. You should have seen her face, she was so disappointed in me," I replied, smiling in sadness.

"I don't care about her fucking face, so there's a brother, huh, I won't let him ruin this," he yelled in anger.

"I don't want to be a part of this anymore, I just want Perlah back," I blunted.

"Don't be stupid, I am not giving you a choice. You are already in and so shall it be," he yelled again.

"Perlah only knows you are after the code, she doesn't know you were involved in the death of her family. Guess what will happen if she finds out? If you dare try to back down from what you have already started, I will inform Perlah that you were involved in the death of her family," Isko announced.

"Are you threatening me?" I asked in frustration.

"I'm just doing business," he replied, giggling over the phone.

"What do you want?" I questioned.

"Kill that fucking brother."
