Promise

"What do you want?"

The purple-haired woman frowned at the intruder.

"Someone's looking for you."

"Tell them to fuck off. I don't want to see anybody."

She made herself more comfortable on the chair she stood on, while the intruder, a woman with orange hair, sighed.

"You should go see him."

"I said I don't want to. Now scram."

Thinking of a better solution than to just tell her who was looking for her, the orange-haired woman left.

.

.

.

After arriving in the same dark place where she is almost always residing, the woman saw that Ertex was already there, once again smoking. He looked at her, not seeing nor sensing anyone besides her.

"Where is she?"

"As I told you, she's complicated. Since she didn't agree to come here, I'll just take you to her instead."

Ertex nodded, following her into a portal and immediately appearing in a room. This new room was way brighter than the other one. However, it was still pretty empty, with only a bed, a table, and a chair that the woman stood on, while the walls were of an almost blinding color of white.

The woman, on the other hand, was simply gorgeous; everything about her was screaming elegance. Her shining purple hair fell on her back in waves. She had a striking face with full and perfectly shaped lips, while the black lip gloss used only made them more appealing. Her body was covered by a black dress that only seemed to suffocate her bust, with long transparent sleeves. For accessories, she had a necklace with a purple diamond pendant and matching earrings.

The only thing was that... Ertex wasn't seeing her like that. For him, she was hideous. Utterly disgusting.

The woman had her eyes closed, her head resting on her palms.

"Didn't I tell you to scram?"

When she opened her eyes, seeing a tall man besides the orange head was the last thing she would have thought of. Besides the fact that not many people could enter this place, she didn't feel his presence at all.

"Your fault you didn't want to come. I'll take my leave now. Just... scream if things are getting out of hand."

And just like that, they were alone.

The woman's eyes, just seconds ago cold and indifferent, suddenly shone.

"E-Ertex?!"

She got up and was just about to rush towards him, but he stopped her.

"Don't. Do you..."

The urge to kill her only grew more and more, for some reason. But he was better than that. He could control himself if he wanted to.

.

.

.

Of course, the question is if he wants to.

He scratched his palm after throwing the cigar.

"Do you have a sister?"

The woman was confused and a little bit hurt. The man she wanted to see just came right where she was, but besides the fact that he stopped her when she wanted to hug him, he even asked about her sister? Why? How was that fair?

"... Sister?"

"Yes. A twin, with a tattoo on her neck."

There, she frowned.

"I do have a sister, but not a twin... I don't understand, why are you asking about her when-"

"Does she have a tattoo all over her neck?"

The woman clenched her fists.

"... She does."

"Do you know where she is?"

"... Why.."

He squinted his eyes, turning around, seemingly about to leave.

"Fine. Don't tell me. I don't need your help."

The woman's heart dropped, her head full of questions. What does he want from her sister? Why isn't he paying attention to her at all? What if he'll never want to see her again?

.

.

.

"I... I don't know where she is, but I have an idea of how to find her. I will help you, but you have to promise me something!"

Ertex stopped, turning his head towards her.

"What?"

"Promise me that... y-you'll spend more time with me after I find her."

"..."

"Alright. I promise."

Her eyes once again shone, the hope coming back.

"You promised!"

She then immediately left, Ertex remaining alone in that empty room.

[Name: Aurora Agura]

'Dumb woman...'

.

.

.

It was already night outside when he returned to the empty field. Arga was still teaching Edna, with Mary spectating.

"Hey."

It wasn't anyone from the field, as they didn't even know he had returned. It was the same voice that told him that Agura was found.

"What?"

"What's your story with that woman? Why are trying so hard to find her?"

"..."

"It's nothing. I'm just exaggerating things."

He checked Edna, seeing that almost all of her stats grew, with her magic power doubling.

"That's what you call a genius, you know?"

Ertex snorted.

"Please. If she is a genius, what am I then? So quick to name someone a genius nowadays."

"Not everyone is like you, Ertex... Actually, no one is like you, blatantly copying everyone's stats by just getting hit once. While sure, compared to you, every genius seems nothing but average, they still are geniuses."

He rolled his eyes, approaching the women after seeing that Arga stopped teaching her. Edna was laying down, trying to catch her breath.

Seeing Ertex, Arga smiled at him.

"For how long have you been watching?"

"I just arrived."

Edna waved at him while Mary avoided his eyes, making him laugh.

"Let's go, mom."

She nodded and left after telling Edna something that Ertex paid no attention to. The pair of daughter and mother were left alone, as Edna was too tired to walk with them.

.

.

.

"Where have you been?"

Ertex glanced at Arga, wrapping a hand around her waist.

"Just lazing around. Why, did you miss me?"

"Of course I did..."

Ertex laughed, kissing her.

"Aren't you cute? You've got nothing to worry about. I won't ever leave for more than I did today."

Arga nodded, getting closer to him.

"So? Do you want to continue training her?"

She shrugged.

"I guess so. She learns pretty fast, and I am slowly getting myself stronger too, so I guess it won't hurt."

By now, they had arrived home, both showering before going to bed. Arga placed her on his chest, wrapping her arm around him, immediately falling asleep.

Ertex looked at the ceiling, slowly closing his eyes.

.

He was curious.
