A handsome young man with short black hair, glasses, and a long white professor's coat stood scratching the back of his head. He had the air of a teacher—calm, collected, and exuding an aura of responsibility. Except, in this case, he was facing something far more daunting than unruly students.
[Insert Image of Sensei]
His son.
The teenager in front of him shared his dark hair but had striking sea-blue eyes and fair skin. His arms were crossed, his expression unreadable as he processed the words his father had just spoken.
[Insert Image of Ritsuka]
Sensei coughed awkwardly, trying to sound casual. "So yeah, what do you say? Wanna join, son? Not that you have much of a choice. Sorry, son."
Silence.
Ritsuka took a long, deep breath, his fists clenching and unclenching. Then, finally, he spoke.
"First of all, I am very happy you are back, and—"
Sensei perked up slightly. "And?"
BAM!
The next second, Sensei was lying flat on the floor, clutching his face.
"Yep," he muttered. "I deserved that."
Ritsuka cracked his knuckles, glaring down at him. "That's for leaving me for two years. Yes, I know you lost your memories, but still! You could've at least checked your phone's photo gallery or something!"
Sensei groaned, rubbing his cheek. "I mean… fair point."
Ritsuka crossed his arms again. "Seriously. I had to move on with my life while my own father forgot I even existed! Do you know how awkward it was explaining to people why my dad went poof?"
Sensei slowly sat up. "In my defense… okay, yeah, I have no defense."
Ritsuka sighed heavily. "And now, out of nowhere, you want me to come here? To Kivotos? A place where students have more power than politicians? A place that's less of a city and more of a nation? And—oh, let's not forget—the gender ratio is so skewed that I literally have to enroll in every school just because I'm a guy?"
Sensei nodded. "Yep. That about sums it up."
Ritsuka's eye twitched. "And you really think this is a good idea?"
Sensei dusted himself off, standing up. "Honestly? No. But they insisted."
Ritsuka raised an eyebrow. "They?"
Before Sensei could respond—
CRASH!
A massive explosion rocked the area. Windows shattered. Debris rained down. The sky itself seemed to shake.
Ritsuka didn't even flinch. He just slowly turned his head, his expression completely deadpan.
"…What the fuck was that?"
Sensei sighed, already regretting this. "That… would be your new classmates."
From the rising smoke, figures began emerging—haloed girls armed with rifles, rocket launchers, and—for some godforsaken reason—a tank.
Ritsuka pinched the bridge of his nose. "You know what? Sure. Why not. This might as well happen."
Sensei patted his shoulder sympathetically. "Welcome to Kivotos, son."
Ritsuka stared at the three girls stepping out of the tank. Because of course they came in a tank.
He quickly scanned them, taking in their appearances and silently judging them in his head.
First, the one leading the group—long, straight black hair with dark blue highlights, a serious look in her azure-blue eyes, and glasses that screamed "responsible but secretly stressed." Her outfit was clean and sharp, a perfect representation of the absolute authority she held.
[Insert Image of Rin]
Yup. This one's definitely the 'strict but fair' type. Probably expects me to call her 'President' or something.
Second, the pink-haired one with tiny demon horns and a tail. Ritsuka barely had time to process her halo—which looked like five weird stars stuck together—before she gave him a smirk that instantly set off his internal this girl is going to be a problem alarm.
[Insert Image of Momoka]
Great. She's either a delinquent or someone who enjoys making people suffer for fun. Or both.
Third, the tall, tanned girl with white hair and gold eyes. Unlike the others, she had a relaxed posture, carrying her jacket casually over her shoulder. She looked more like a mafia underboss than a student.
[Insert Image of Haine]
She looks like she belongs in a high-stakes poker game instead of a school. Why does she feel like the type who'd casually say 'I own this place' and actually mean it?
Then, the first girl, Rin, stepped forward and extended her hand with a polite, professional smile.
"My name is Rin. It is a pleasure to meet you. I am the Student Council President, and I'm here to take you to Kivotos."
Ritsuka blinked. Then, very slowly, he turned his head, looking at the normal people walking around, completely ignoring the fact that a tank was now parked in the middle of the area.
He looked back at Rin.
"…Um. Thanks?"
He cautiously shook her hand, keeping his tone neutral.
But inside, he was screaming.
Because he knew what the Student Council actually meant in Kivotos. Outside the so-called "Angel Nations," Student Councils were just a bunch of students organizing school events. But here?
They were the government.
And Rin? She wasn't just a president of some school club.
She was, essentially, the President of the Nation.
And she was here.
Personally.
To pick him up.
His eye twitched slightly, but he forced himself to stay calm. Nope. Not questioning it. Just rolling with it. If I start asking questions, I'll have an existential crisis before I even get to this insane city.
Meanwhile, the pink-haired girl, Manoka, was grinning at him like she had already planned three different ways to make his life more interesting (read: chaotic).
And the white-haired girl, Haine, gave him a lazy nod as if she already knew what he was thinking and found it amusing.
Ritsuka sighed internally.
I haven't even stepped into Kivotos yet, and I already feel like my life is over.
Rin looked at Ritsuka as she spoke. "Get on the tank"
Ritsuka stared at Rin for a solid five seconds, making sure he had heard her correctly.
"…You want me to get on the tank?" he repeated, just to be sure.
Rin nodded, completely serious. "Yes. We will be using this to get to the airport."
Ritsuka slowly turned his head, looking around at the normal people walking by, completely unfazed by the fact that there was a massive armored vehicle parked in the middle of a public space. Some even waved at Rin and her group like this was just another Tuesday.
He turned back to her. "You do realize normal people don't use tanks for airport transportation, right?"
Manoka snickered, hopping onto the tank's side with ease. "Normal people don't live in Kivotos, dumbass."
Haine chuckled, shaking her head. "You'll get used to it."
Ritsuka pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a long sigh. "This place is going to kill me."
Still, he climbed onto the tank because at this point, he had given up trying to apply logic to anything.
As soon as he was on, Rin gave a signal, and the tank roared to life.
And then it sped up.
Ritsuka barely had time to grab onto the side before the tank shot forward, weaving through traffic at highway speeds, completely ignoring lanes, traffic lights, and common sense.
People on the street barely reacted, casually stepping out of the way as if this was normal.
Ritsuka screamed internally.
Welcome to Kivotos, I guess.
Ritsuka looked at the group as he spoke. "So um, why did the people in the streets react like this is normal".
Sensei them looked as he chuckled. "That my son is probably because of there Halo, they kinda relax people, it onlys work's to people outside of rrh Angel Nation".
Ritsuka blinked. "Wait, hold up. You're telling me their halos have a built-in 'chill-the-fuck-out' effect on normal people?"
Sensei chuckled, nodding. "Pretty much. People from outside the Angel Nation—like you—get affected by it. It makes them more accepting of… well, things like this." He gestured around at the tank still speeding down the road, casually cutting off cars like it had diplomatic immunity.
Ritsuka took a deep breath. "So that's why nobody is freaking out about a literal war machine blasting through traffic?"
Rin adjusted her glasses. "It's not just that. Kivotos operates differently from the outside world. The people here are used to constant combat, destruction, and large-scale conflicts being an everyday occurrence. To them, a tank in public is as normal as a bus."
Manoka smirked. "Not to mention, most of them are probably armed too. I bet at least half the people we passed had rocket launchers in their bags."
Ritsuka stared at her. "…You're joking, right?"
Manoka just grinned.
Ritsuka groaned, rubbing his temples. "Okay, cool, great. Love that for me. So, basically, I've been dropped into an anime version of Mad Max, except everyone has a halo and acts like it's just another day at the office."
Haine chuckled. "You'll get used to it."
Ritsuka sighed. "You say that like I want to."
At that moment, the tank suddenly swerved to the side, nearly throwing Ritsuka off.
"WHAT THE HELL—?!"
Rin, completely unfazed, simply said, "Ah. Traffic jam ahead. We're taking a shortcut."
Ritsuka turned his head and saw that their 'shortcut' was a stairway leading to an overpass.
"…No. No way. You're not actually going to—"
The tank launched itself up the stairs, crushing them under its treads, and then landed on the overpass with a heavy thud.
Ritsuka screamed.
Sensei patted his shoulder, laughing. "Welcome to Kivotos, son."
Momoka then spoke looking at him. "And for some reason, you and Sensei are the only people immune this, or will here, what nation is this".
Ritsuka looked at him as he spoke. "Will... That is something, and we are not even in Kivotos yeat, we are still in America".
Rin chuckles as she spoke. "Will yes, we are taking you there".
Ritsuka blinked. "Wait, hold on—so you're telling me we're still in America right now?"
Momoka nodded. "Yup. This is just some random American city."
Ritsuka slowly turned his head, taking in the sheer absurdity of the situation. They were not even in Kivotos yet, and he had already experienced a tank rampaging through traffic, people casually ignoring it, and the revelation that halos brainwash people into chilling the fuck out.
"…And nobody here is questioning why a tank full of armed girls with halos is driving through their city like it's a normal Uber?"
Rin chuckled. "Like I said, the halo effect makes people more accepting of things. Though, you and Sensei seem to be immune."
Ritsuka sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Yeah, lucky me. So how exactly are we getting to Kivotos? Please don't tell me the tank is gonna transform into a jet or something."
Momoka smirked. "Nah, that'd be ridiculous."
Ritsuka let out a breath of relief.
Then Rin spoke. "We're taking the battleship."
Ritsuka froze. "The what."
Sensei nodded. "Oh yeah, I forgot to mention—we have a battleship waiting at the port."
Ritsuka turned to look at his father. "Of course, you do."
Rin adjusted her glasses. "It's the fastest way to Kivotos. It should only take a few hours to cross the ocean."
Ritsuka sighed. "Y'know, I was expecting some weird stuff, but I didn't think I'd be traveling by military-grade naval warship on my first day."
Momoka grinned. "Welcome to your new life, Ritsuka."
Ritsuka just groaned.
The tank continued its chaotic journey, now weaving through narrow alleyways and making sharp turns that felt like they were straight out of an action movie. Ritsuka's head was spinning, and he couldn't quite tell if it was from the wild ride or the rapidly escalating absurdity of the whole situation.
As they neared the port, Ritsuka spotted a massive, imposing battleship docked near the waterfront. It looked like something straight out of a naval war movie, but with a futuristic edge.
"Is that it?" Ritsuka asked, staring at the ship.
Rin nodded. "Yep, that's our ride. Don't worry; it's equipped for speed and defense. No one's going to stop us on our way to Kivotos."
Ritsuka rubbed his temples, trying to process everything. "I swear, I'm going to wake up from this nightmare any minute now."
Momoka raised an eyebrow. "Trust me, you're not dreaming. This is real. Welcome to your new life, where tanks, battleships, and halos are just a regular Tuesday."
Ritsuka stared at her, completely deadpan. "Oh, I'm already well aware of that, thanks."
The tank finally came to a stop in front of the battleship. Ritsuka was still trying to come to terms with everything that was happening as the group disembarked. As they walked toward the ship, a group of soldiers—who looked way too calm for people who were on the verge of international chaos—saluted the student council president and her entourage.
Ritsuka glanced at Sensei. "Okay, so… What exactly is this place? I mean, Kivotos? Are we talking about a nation here or some weird little city-state?"
Sensei grinned, the smirk still on his face. "Kivotos is a nation, but it's not like any other nation you've seen before. It's a place where students hold more power than politicians, and the country's future is pretty much decided by how well those students perform. It's not quite like a regular government, but it works in its own way."
Ritsuka raised an eyebrow. "So, basically, the entire country is run by high schoolers?"
"Pretty much," Rin answered casually. "With the Student Council, of course. But not just any student—those with the best abilities. The ones with the strongest halos and the most potential. And it's all tied to the education system."
Ritsuka blinked. "So, Halo-powered students rule the world? That's… way more than I expected."
Momoka laughed. "Yeah, I'd say it's a bit overwhelming for someone coming from outside. But you'll get used to it. Eventually."
"Great. So what's the catch? What do I need to do to survive this insane world?"
Haine chuckled from behind. "Survive? You just have to play the game. And from what I hear, you have the perfect pedigree for it."
Ritsuka stopped in his tracks. "You mean… my dad?"
Rin turned to face him, a knowing look in her eyes. "Oh, your father's reputation precedes him. Sensei is not just a random teacher. He's the Sensei of Kivotos. His influence goes back a long way."
Ritsuka groaned, his life just getting more complicated by the second. "Great. So now I'm expected to live up to that legacy?"
"You've got it," Sensei replied with a wide grin. "But hey, no pressure. You're my son after all. You're gonna do just fine."
Ritsuka just stared at his dad, contemplating how he ended up in this mess. "I swear, if I survive this, I'm getting myself a vacation."
As they boarded the battleship, Ritsuka realized that there was no turning back now. The massive vessel began to move, slowly sailing out into the open sea, heading towards a future filled with halo-powered students, unpredictable battles, and—of course—his very complicated new life in Kivotos.
And as the ship sailed further into the horizon, Ritsuka could only wonder what strange adventures awaited him in this bizarre new world.
"Hold on tight, son," Sensei called out from the deck, still with that ridiculous grin plastered on his face. "This is just the beginning."
Ritsuka, eyes half-lidded, sighed. "Yeah, I figured."
And so, with a battleship speeding toward the Angel Nation, Ritsuka's new life truly began.
