Chapter 36 You must choose now or be forever lost!

"Why do you lie to yourself, Kael?" The voice from the thick mist queried.

Again, Kael's thoughts seemed to coalesce once into reality. This time he saw himself standing before Elara, arguing. The memory of the incident was brought fresh, into the present and he could feel the pain of their conflict and unresolved feelings.

Kael closed his eyes and muttered to himself, "No, this cannot go on! I must not be distracted. Elanon depends on me, the Alliance depends on me. The fate of the realms depends on this mission."

He knew there were unresolved feelings that he could not control now so he acknowledged them. Then he bottled the pain and unresolved feelings deep into his subconscious. He also buried the internal turmoil that his conflict with Devon generated and let go of his feelings of guilt, regret, and anger.

His mind now calm, he opened his eyes to find a figure in fine, ancient armour standing before him in the mist.
