Chapter 38 It’s all your fault Aelarion, you let us die

Attempts to take himself out of the spell that was initiated by the box proved unsuccessful. Besides, Aelarion did not have much time to make attempts as ghostly apparitions started to form around him. Upon closer inspection, Aelarion could tell that they were apparitions of his fallen team mates from back then.

They looked macabre with features injured or missing but without fail, all of them had accusing eyes. Their lips did not move but their voices whispered hoarsely as they surrounded him.

"It's all your fault, Aelarion. You allowed us to die. You failed us and our families!"

These whispers resonated deep within Aelarion and they synchronised with his feelings of regret and guilt. These feelings that had haunted him for decades now seemed about to destroy him. The weight of his guilt pushed him to his knees as he felt the full burden of previous mistakes.
