Maybe you're afraid

"Aren't you changing?" I asked, my tone casual but my eyes curious. I watched Serena—no, Seraphine—struggle with her disguise. It was amusing, really. She thought she could fool me, but I knew her too well.

She hesitated, her hands fumbling with the cloak's clasp. I could see the anxiety in her eyes, though she tried to hide it. She was probably trying to think of a plausible excuse, but I wasn't going to let her off that easily.

"You need some help with that?" I asked, stepping closer, a teasing smirk playing on my lips.

She glanced at me, her eyes wide with surprise, and shook her head. "No, I'm fine. Just a bit... stuck."

I chuckled softly, closing the distance between us. "Really? It looks like you're having quite a bit of trouble. Maybe you're afraid of what I might see?"

Her cheeks flushed, and I could almost hear her heartbeat quicken. She was trapped, and she knew it. "I'm not afraid," she said, though her voice wavered.
