I hesitated, torn between my loyalty to Dante and my desperate need to protect my mother. "I overheard something about a meeting," I said finally, my voice shaking. "Something about a new business venture. I don't know the details other than it will be held next Thursday in his office downtown. It sounded important."

"Business meetings happen all the time. Why did this one stand out?"

"It's after hours, way late at night."

Anton nodded as if he agreed it sounded like something worth looking into. "I'll pass it along to Marco."

Suddenly, Anton stepped back, his expression unreadable.
