Chapter 68: Unanswered Questions

*Layla*

The days turned into weeks as I watched over my mother's still form, her chest rising and falling with the steady rhythm of the machines that kept her alive. Despite the doctors' best efforts, she remained in a coma, her body healing slowly.

As much as I wanted to stay by her side every waking moment, I had to focus on my own recovery as well. The surgery had taken its toll on my body, and I needed to regain my strength for the sake of my unborn children.

Anton gently placed his hand on my shoulder, his eyes filled with concern. "I know you want to be here for your mother, but you need to take care of yourself too. You've been through so much, and your body needs time to heal."

I sighed, knowing he was right. "I just feel so helpless, Anton. I want to be here when she wakes up."

He gave me a reassuring smile. "I know, and you will be. But right now, the best thing you can do for her is to focus on your own health and the health of your babies."
